And I just heard about this movie ! I am usually on top of things that involve the genre but when I found out what it was about I had to watch the trailer ! Honestly if this will be like a rave in a movie theater then I'm in .
robots can be built to play musical instruments, but they aren't musicians.
I tend to agree with you, but I hesitate to say no DJs play musical instruments - there's gotta be some. They just choose a really *beep* genre to express their musical voice.
Not necessarily. It all depends on how they make their music. I absolutely hate loops and *beep* like that. Of course anyone can be a DJ if they just put some loops together that are the same bpm and match the track they're making. I use a keyboard and actually compose the song I'm making, and then add drums and stuff later. (I play both drums and keys, and prefer to actually play the instrument as it goes along with what I've got already.) So yes, I do play a musical instrument, it's not a requirement, but I prefer it, makes me feel like I have talent vs. people that just put loops together or create loops with a mini midi keyboard where they only have one octave and don't have to know how to play properly. Also, even though I'm not a huge Skrillex fan, he was the lead singer of a screamo band before, he plays several instruments. So yes, there are talented DJ's out there that know more than how to use a computer and wear headphones.
Man. Mad respect. I was reading this and thinking it was me who wrote it..until you got to the part about Skrillex lol. I'm more of an Aphex Twin/Amon Tobin guy myself . The electronic music these days is so automated already it all sounds the same. I can't stand loops or people getting by making money being dishonest w/ their music. Either way, I've yet to find that many people that agree w/ me, usually I'm attacked for not liking *BEEP* music. Meh. Anyways.. playing out my synths and one-shots all the way, Hardware>Software ...you know the drill :)
you dont like music then you like what you're told to like and what you think is cool.
pleb...A rave in the movie theater. .yiu hsve obviously never been to a real EDM festival before it became about dudes on roids wearing stringlets and oompa loompas in short shorts or an actual rave.
I hope you're 12. Otherwise your life is going to be miserable because you're a degenerated inbred couch potatoes who has no idea how bad he looks saying that to other people.
how can you put the words "electronic music" and this movie in one sentence without laughing? did you see the trailer? this is an insult to everyone who seriously is into electronic music...

Seriously, when I saw this trailer, I felt disgusted. Commercial EDM made into a completely generic studio film. It looked just like that godawful trailer for Jem and the Holograms but with EDM.
If you want to see electronic music made by artists, go to the Movement Festival in Detroit or Moogfest in North Carolina in May of next year. I saw Squarepusher, Orbital, Carl Craig, Miike Snow, tons and tons of great music in 2012. This is a video from the fest. https://vimeo.com/52604922
All this edm *beep* is pathetic. People with no talent sucking out millions from teenagers and other low life forms who don't have ears.
There is art in electronic music, there are hundreds of great artists out there, but you will never find them in those major festivals. The art stayed where it started - underground.
