Do you know who I am ?

All this "do you know who I am" got little old during the documentary.

And they pretended so much that it was awful. "Ooh, we are in deep trouble now" when they had all the time filming crew with their SUV:s, jeeps, satellite phones and even helicopter to cover their asses. Not to menation producer and security personnell...

One of the worst travel documentaries I've seen.

You responded to my "egocentric" post, but I'll respond to you here too.
The "do you know who I am" thing is funny because if I saw him eating next to me at a restaurant I wouldn't blink an eye (other than the fact that there are camera crews and the producers around) because I would simply not recognize him. And I have known who he is for like 15 years. Of all the 1000s of famous athletes, actors and other celebrities, I'd probably only recognize a handful of them in person. Maybe more actors than the other types of people simply because I've stared at their faces on the screen for long periods of time, but there'd be few athletes that I'd immediately go "There's Manny Pacquiao" or "Yo, that's Yoenis Cespedes!"

Are you kidding man? I'm not trying to be disrespectful but I'm an American that doesn't watch soccer outside of the World Cup semis/finals and I would recognize Beckham over a lot of NBA/NHL players. I would say he is possibly one of the most globally recognizable people in sports along with Michael Jordan, Yao Ming, Shaq, Wayne Gretzky, Wayne Rooney, Manny Pacquiao, Jeremy Lin, and a few others that are extremely accomplished and have extremely unique faces/physiques. I mean Beckham's look with the face/hair/very specific tattoos/demeanor & accent/etc - the guy couldn't blend in even in the soccer-averse US South. Sorry, but I just find it hard to agree - haha and why on Earth did you use "Yoenis Cespedes" as an example? I watch Sports Center everyday when I work out at the gym and I had no clue who the guy even was (neither did my coworker, another huge sports fan, when I just asked him), never mind recognizing him on the street. Granted, neither of us are huge MLB fans, but we'd know probably 30-40 players by face, and I never even heard that guy's name. Maybe that wasn't your point, but putting him after Packman doesn't help, probably the most famous active athlete in the world right now.

Yes, I'm from the south and I agree.

He more famous than most NBA players.

Guess why? I'm not complaining.

You mention Jeremy Lin...the definition of a one-hit wonder who looks like half the kids you see at the basketball courts at any UC University gym. ...and you don't know Yoennis Cespedes, the guy who won two consecutive home run derby titles and who was a staple of Baseball Tonight over the past 3 years? I know who Wayne Rooney is, but I certainly wouldn't be able to point him out in a crowd.

The point is that these people aren't exactly glued to a TV set following English (or MLS) football, they probably don't even have a TV. Even if they do follow football, to them, the most recognizable players would be Ronaldo, Kaka and other South American stars, not some generic looking white guy.
