All-Arena Linebacker Comes to City of Brotherly Love

PHILADELPHIA (February 20, 2015) – The Philadelphia Soul announce a trade with Los Angeles KISS for First-Team All-Arena linebacker Beau Bell (6’1, 245, UNLV), in exchange for fullback Derrick Ross (6’0, 250, Tarleton State) and future considerations. With the addition of one of the league’s best defensive players, Philadelphia continues to strengthen the defense in preparation for the upcoming 2015 season.

In a recent Arena Football League players’ poll conducted by the League Office, Bell was selected as the No. 4 top player in the league.

“We needed to get stronger on the defensive side of the ball and Beau became available – we couldn’t pass it up,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. “You have to give up talent to get talent, but the previous addition of Tommy Taggart at fullback allowed us to make this move, which we felt was needed to improve us overall. We are excited to have Beau’s positive presence on and off the field and know that he will quickly become a fan favorite.”

Bell was a constant force on Los Angeles’ defensive in the 2014 season – recording 69.0 total tackles, 43 unassisted and was ranked No. 2 in the league for sacks (13.0) in only 15 games. Bell also had one forced fumble, two recoveries, a blocked kick and one interception for 25 yards and a touchdown.

Before arriving in Los Angeles with the KISS, Bell spent three seasons with the Spokane Shock (2011-13), and his career totals currently stand at: 193.0 total tackles, 136 unassisted and 30.0 total sacks. Bell has also spent time with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

Ross has been a member of the Philadelphia Soul roster for the last three seasons. The three-time First-Team, All-Arena fullback led the league in rushing yards in all three seasons with the Soul, recording 487 yards and 36 touchdowns in the 2014 season.
