I need to say something...

I’m a grown man. I don’t like musicals, except for the Disney animated films I grew up with, and classics like The Wizard of Oz. I’m a huge film buff, but I’m usually Scorsese, gangster films, war films, action, etc. Every once in a while a romantic film (usually involving Paris) like Casablanca gets in my soul, but I’m usually not the romantic film kind of guy.

That being said...La La Land mesmerized me, and the heartbreaking but brilliant ending absolutely destroyed me. That was beautiful misery to put it lightly. I loved this film! It really stays with you, and makes you think about a lot of things in your own life, when it comes to love, or dreams, or both.

The music (I think it’s “City of Stars”, 4:55 in the epilogue) when they are dancing with the stars around them and the music has the added choir singing is one of the most beautiful scores I’ve ever heard.

Maybe the film just hits harder for me personally because life has unfortunately hit me harder this last year and a half, having a lost love myself (Who I traveled to Paris with and have wonderful memories), but either way...great film!

I WAS VERY BORED AND FOUND MYSELF FAST FORWARDING,BUT THEN AGAIN THE ONLY MUSICAL I LIKE IS GREASE...SO IM DEFINITELY NOT THE AUDIENCE FOR THIS.

Just wondering, do you always type in caps because of poor vision or why?

"La La Land" is a first-rate fifth-rate musical. It is impressive only to those who are not familiar with the great musical films of the 1930s through 1950s. In today's musically deprived culture, it is like a dog who can ride a unicycle--it gets attention not because it does it well, but just because it can do it at all.

What a snooty reply! It meant something deep to the op. Why the need to shame them like this?

I like this film too. First saw it in the cinema, where the opening is fantastic on the big screen, and watched it a few times since. There is a lot going on, some great music themes and a lot of chemistry. It just hits a lot of the right notes and in the right order.
