If this show is considered to be inaccurate,

could anyone suggest a film or series that accurately depicts the history of this period. An ancestor of my husband's was involved in these events and I would like to see it depicted on screen, but in as truthful way as possible. Thank you in advance.

Have you watched "Turn"? It is an AMC series based on the book "Washington's Spies" by Alexander Rose.

They also made a HBO mini-series about John Adams that was really good.

Unless you watch a documentary, its historical fiction and someone will always get their panties in a twist over it.
I prefer historical dramas to rom-coms/comedies and unless its outrageously obvious they are making it up & if the story is really good, at least it will get me to go and get a book to read about the actual history involved.

I have the HBO John Adams, and it is really good.

Sons of Liberty leans a lot closer to being an action drama, but John Adams gets more into the gritty, desperate lives that people had before, during and after the American Revolution. The smallpox inoculation scenes alone are an eye-opener!

It's kind of shocking how their world was so different from ours.

-for one thing it's pretty hard to imagine a former president up on a ladder patching his roof, but John Adams lived a pretty low budget life after he left the White House and there was no "Help".

Yea this is pretty off. Samuel Adams would have been 48 years old on 1770...
