God and Lucifer in a swear movie, like Job?

Potential Spoilers:

The main plot is the chess game between Lucifer and God. Playing this out in a subplot isn't a bad idea; in fact, it's a nice idea.

However, the subplot is riddled with crap that the actors should have tried to fix. There are too many choices in the bank robbery on both sides that no real human would think to do. As a result, the bank robbery is confusing and largely uninteresting. And if you remove the swearing, you cut that sub-plot time in half. And, for me, the attempt at sentimentalism at the end wasn't effective either, but I lose track of characters in meandering movies because I don't recognize faces very well. So, maybe this worked for some people.

I think the same overall idea, but with better writing and a better subplot, could even be compelling.

(By the way, in most religions, Satan is not God's equal, and perhaps that was effectively implied in the end. Maybe someone was trying to do a version of the Job story.)
