Would this have been more successful if

it had been a TV Series instead of a Movie?

reply

They picked an actor who hardly projected the character and made Lando a boring person so no, probably not
Solo was just 'ok' and should have been awesome

Wasted...sad

reply

I haven't seen it and don't intend to but isn't Danny Glover way too old to be playing Lando? Ford and Billy D seem about the same age, but Glover was complaining about being old in Lethal Weapon in 1987.

reply

Lando was played by Donald Glover and his age seemed appropriate for the story
Not a great movie though

reply

Oh ! DONALD Glover, not Danny Glover. My mistake.

reply

No worries lol

reply

Donald Glover actually made a great Lando. Solo was actually a pretty decent movie. It was by no means the best Start Wars movie ever, but definitely worth watching at home.

reply

Glover was a great choice. Not his fault that the writers saddled Lando with an absurd robot love story.

reply

Yeah, that part was a little bit weird. Still, it was kind of funny how they made her a part of the ship. No wonder C3-P0 found the ship "peculiar!"

reply

Which was ironic since the droid was all about "droid rights" and not being a utility which they saw as slave driving ... Attempted to stage a coup but when push came to shove decided to become a part of a computer system tasked with computing mundane hyperspace calculations forever (in other words: a utility) instead of dying for what they supposedly believed in. Cowardly.

If you mean if it had a completely different team working on it, maybe. Being a movie wasn't the problem, it's problem was being a mediocre movie with a generic protagonist. It's the same thing they did to Capt Kirk in the Faux Trek movies. They take away everything that makes the character unique and interesting and make them into a generic rogue that has been done a million times.

before this film when I imagined a Han Solo movie (charting his time before ANH) I imagined something like those old Han Solo novels that came out after ANH - like Raiders in space with Han and Chewie searching for some ancient artefact and meeting Lando on the way (not his origins which should've been left a mystery imo) with stuff like the Kessel run being something other than what it turned out in this film. and the look of the movie wouldve been more colourful/bright like ANH - maybe even approaching Guardians.. (not so much dusty browns - I get they were aiming for a 'western in space' but it was all very dull looking)

reply

RECAST SOLO...THAT DUDE WRECKED ANYTHING THE MOVIE ALMOST GOT RIGHT.

reply

No.

It wouldn't have worked as a TV show either, because the central problem with the film is that THAT ISN'T HAN SOLO, and a TV show would have the same issue.

reply

People would have been able to comfortably "leave" before its over which is uncommon in theaters. they soaked me for the whole enchilada in theaters. I payed the full price. Had I seen it in series form, I would likely have quit by episode 2 (or ep 3 if that's when the L robot shows up)

reply

It sure would have in my book. I mean tv show spinoffs of movies are supposed to kind of suck.
