Qi'ra: A Star Wars Story - From the perspective of Han Solo

This is what the film should have been called.

It was actually her story, just told from the unremarkable perspective of Han Solo.

She didn't actually want anything to do with Han anyway, there was no big emotional reunion, just some clumsy chit-chat.

She became "TOP Lieutenant" in the same amount of time it took solo to get NOWHERE NEAR coming back and saving her (actually he went backwards, kicked out of flight academy, failed soldier, was sentenced to death for treason, failed heist etc etc).

Funnily enough she had already saved herself anyway, then she set herself 100% by beating the bad guy in the end in 1v1 combat and then ascended to her rightful place as Sith in waiting - we are left waiting what her next adventure will entail.

Probably why people were so disconnected with this film.

Interesting points.

Hmmm, never thought of it that way, but yeah, I can see your point. It did seem to revolve more around Clarke's character. She probably demanded it due to her high status because of GoT.

There were probably plans to develop a complex love/hate Ally/antagonist love/heartbreak relationship between Han and Superchick there, which werent properly set up in the first film and which won't be realized in sequels.

It might have worked... More later must go.

It's possible that this more Qi'ra less Solo was ruing the film hence the recut? (Or the original directors didn't like this angle?).

reply

She really didn't have that much screen time, she was just given a more interesting fill-in for the missing years than Han. He was the star of the film and the protagonist, if he didn't dominate the film then somebody messed up. No, a lot of people messed up on this one.

As for the missing years getting filled in, well, rhe backstory of her rescuing herself and rising to top kick is actually pretty consistent with Lucas's vision for the SW universe. In Lucas's films men have all the adventures and women have all the brains! No, really, that's consistent through the original trilogy and the prequels - men fight and fly spaceshios and aren't that bright, while Leia and Padme and Mon Mothma are super intelligent and run everything. Maybe Sithychick was meant to be part of that tradition.

reply

Maybe ... though 2 of those were bought up as royalty so it kind of goes without saying?

Perhaps there will be a Mothma standalone?

reply

They could do worse that a Monothma stand-alone.

If fact, they just did do worse!
