Average film, but I enjoyed it more than Rogue One...

... Rogue One actually felt like a film that had been cobbled together by two different directors.

While Solo is still deeply mediocre, it at least felt like a singular vision (aside from the noticeable joking around in some scenes, which was probably left over from Lord / Miller).

I actually had fun watching Solo, and walked out feeling that it was an enjoyable, albeit average film. Specific scenes were great (particularly the infamous Sabaac game), but others were a disappointment (Kessel run). Some bits of Rogue One were cool, but on the whole I didn't enjoy it as much.

I felt entertained by the end of Solo, which is more than can be said for TLJ! I was never really bored in Solo, or just waiting for the film to end, whereas I was in TLJ, even on the first viewing.

The Last Jedi is down the bottom of the current run of Star Wars films for me ... that movie was a completely unsatisfying and boring follow-up to The Force Awakens. Rogue One, while a lifeless mess, at least had a couple of cool bits.

Solo, imo, suffered because it had horrific PR (the directors being replaced, an acting coach for whatshisname, the writer calling Lando "pansexual", nerds calling the robot a feminist, etc) and because it got caught in the lingering toxicity surrounding The Last Jedi.
