When you make 'Han Solo' the least coolest character in his own film ...

... it's no wonder it wasn't received as well as it should have been.

Seriously they made everyone better, more influential and most definitely cooler than him. Even the droids ...

Cool Han Luke?

reply

Not sure what your question is ... are you saying Luke wasn't cool?

reply

Hmm, good question. Maybe Cool Han Luke means that Han wasn't really cool until he met Luke, and suddenly Han realized there was someone less cool than him. Then Han got cocky...

But Han was at his coolest when frozen in carbonite.

reply

Well technically he was in perfect hibernation.

It's like he went from someone who got absolutely no-where in 3 years to a swashbuckling smuggler somewhere after the non-events in Solo?

reply

I think he's a "fake it till you make it" kind of guy. I can see a lot of that in the original trilogy.

reply

I think it's more like 'Fly by the seat of one's pants' as well.

Fully agree. It was almost like a teenage caricature of Han Solo, before he matured. Except who wants to see that? It would have been way better to see a more badass Han, a real gambler. Even the gambling scenes were poorly executed and didn't make Han seem cool. Casino Royale is the gold standard of how to make a gambler seem badass as ___. The writers should have known this and written something more creative than a card game.

He smiled way too much. It got annoying.

reply

Too much smiling, too much joking. Not confident enough. No swagger. But my main problem was this dude was too damn short. Small build too. Han shouldn't be the same size as his female co-stars.

reply

I mean when he said he was an outlaw or whatever it was literally a joke. The movie actually wanted us to think him being a badass was laughable. Gee, how great. Why make Han a super soft "good guy" the entire movie when it defeats the arc of ANH? It all makes so little sense.

I actually thought the character was decent, but it wasn't Han.

True story.
