So how bad was this movie?

I decided against seeing it, even though Han Solo was one of the best characters in the original SW movies. Is it really as disappointing as everyone says?

reply

I thought it was. Bland characters, washed out looking movie, very much soulless.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested. If you feel there is something I could be doing better, I would definitely love to hear it. Review here - https://youtu.be/SVdMCNhBstI

It's hard to imagine but the movie is incredibly boring. It isn't terrible but for a movie about the origin of Han Solo to be boring deserves respect for how difficult that would be to pull off...

wasnt bad at all, I liked it and I hate the episode 7 and 8 and didnt like the prequels much, but this and rogue one was very good, I really felt the star wars feeling in these two spin offs that I didnt feel in episode 7 and 8.

I agree, Rogue One and Solo are the best of the Disney SW movies.
Along with Episode III RotS they're really the only decent post trilogy SW movies.

This movie is bad. Meaning, this is an actual bad movie. I'm pretty surprised. I knew I was going to hate all the story elements. That's all been long spoiled for me. But the actual movie isn't well made. It's cheesy, most of the effects look like crap, even the stunts arn't very good. It's lit bad, it's shot bad. The music is ill fitting. The acting is terrible. But the worst thing of all is the atrocious dialog. This is an actual bad movie. No wonder it bombed.

There is some charm. The scenes with Han and Chewie are pretty good, and I like Woody in this. But that's about it.

it's a great film. no one here knows what the hell they're talking about.

Its not a terrible movie, its simply a terrible movie interpretation of Han Solo.

He was clearly one of the more interesting and charismatic characters of the original trilogy, but apparently when he was younger, he was a bumbling idiot that barely got anything right!

He flys by the seat of his pants in the OT, and it always works. By the logic of the Solo movie, he also tries to be the same but rarely succeeds....which doesnt make sense for him to keep doing that, bearing in mind how completely useless he is at it in his younger days.

He also rarely felt like the main character in a movie about Han Solo.

Lando had more appeal and more of the swagger Han should have had, and as for that robot, I know C3PO was a bit annoying, and Jar Jar Binks was super annoying, but was it built into the contract when Disney bought Lucasfilm that "1x annoying character tradition must be continued"?

VFX were fine, the story was OK, but the main point of the movie, i.e. Han himself, wasn't.

I guess when you've already killed him off, its difficult to get writers to feel an attachment to the character.

I said it before and I'll say it again the problem was they were trying to recast an iconic character played by an iconic actor and he therefore had no choice but to play it safe which turned into a dull and soulless performance.

Yeah this movie was trash.

I heard Harrison Ford was not happy as to the actor they chose to look like the younger Solo. From what I can tell, he looks nothing like Harrison Ford.

Harrison Ford is a complete nut job so what do you expect?

Wretched.
