SOLO - THE GOOD AND THE BAD OF IT

Good news - Solo was successful. Bad news - Solo wasn't super successful. So much money was spent on marketing and advertising that it couldn't pull in a profit so it flopped. The same thing happened to the Dick Tracy back in 1990.

Production cost overages due to Kennedy's consistent inability to work with the key creative people that she hires were also a key factor. Ron Howard reshot 70% of the movie over an additional 3-4 months of production. Easily $75 - 100 million right there.

I thought this was going to be a thread that itemized the value of the scenes in the movie.
Like this:

The Good:
Woody
Thandie
Chewy
Han & Chewy meeting
Glover (sorta)
Alden (sometimes. See below)
Half of the action scenes
Appearance of Maul (in theory only, really. kinda bad)
Train heist (except for all the stupid shit that happened)
Giant nebulae monster

The Bad:
L3 37
L3 37
Entire intro
Alden (sometimes. See above)
Origin of Solo name
Monologue spelling out why/how Chewy is a nickname
Emilia
Marauders evil until actually "good"
Yacht is right there ... RIGHT THERE!
Pilot monkey guy
Probe droids fan serviced into guard duty don't simply fly around cover
Maul has to ignite his sabre when signing off
Woody hires Han after he betrayed Han
Arbitrary fan-service references to the hilt (at least a few less than R1)
Shower scene
Han can bid whatever without consequences
Droids just want to frolic and not be slaves
L3 can't just be rebuilt?
Triple-cross end when paying off evil boss was sense free
