Conservative Ben Shapiro Speaks Out Against Kennedy

He said Kennedy is more toxic than the fans.

"“‘The Force Awakens’ is garbage; ‘The Last Jedi’ is double-garbage. That’s because Kennedy had two choices upon being granted the helm of the Star Wars universe: (1) fast-forward fifty years, beyond the original characters, and reboot, losing the nostalgia of the original characters but gaining freshness; (2) recast the original characters and pick up where Return of the Jedi left off. Instead, in fully risk averse fashion, she chose door (3): leech off the nostalgia while introducing new characters a few years in the future.”

“This led her to the idiotic decision to murder off all the original beloved characters in increasingly stupid fashion — and then to the doubly idiotic decision to go back and create new movies around those now-dead characters,” he continued. “She pissed off all of us who grew up on ‘Star Wars,’ and in doing so, destroyed whatever good will existed among us for the newer batch of characters.”

Calling your audience a bunch of deplorables didn’t work well for Hillary Clinton; it’s not going to work well for Disney, either. But that didn’t stop Bernardin from laying all the blame for Star Wars’ failures not at the feet of studio head Kathleen Kennedy but at the feet of the “toxic fandom.” According to Bernardin, it’s a series of internet trolls who have destroyed Star Wars’ luster and caused the newest film in the canon, Solo, to bomb. That problem started not with The Force Awakens, but with The Last Jedi. These toxic fans, Bernardin writes:

100% agree with Shapiro.

Shapiro is awesome

Funny thing.

It's not like "Last Jedi" is a great film, but for some reason I thoroughly dislike everyone who goes around ranting about hiw awful it is. The film is a sort of unintentional personality test.

That's not strange.

The same happens to Sunday-Church Christians: they can accept Christian movies are not great, but for some reason they thoroughly dislike everyone who goes around ranting about how awful they are. Indeed, they consider it some unintentional personality test, that shows how (in their opinion) atheists lack moral values.

It's a common attitude among people with deep religious beliefs, not matter we're talking about Christians, or about SJW, Feminist or any other similar modern cult.

Nothing new, just old story in the book.

reply

Except liking or disliking "Last Jedi" and "Force Awakens" isn't a matter of important core values or conflicting world views, this is a question of liking or disliking a couple of movies, a truly frivolous subject.

Maybe I just dislike people who get all worked up and angry about frivolous subjects.

reply

"...frivolous..."

I'm not a psychologist, but humans need recreation. It makes people happy for a few hours from the monotony of daily living and problems. Great stress reliever.

There were fans who said Last Jedi was bad. Lucasfilms & co. response was to call those fans misogynists and racists. I think that stupid response had something to do with riling people up. Why would a company insult their own paying customers?

Another issue is that fans have supported and enjoyed SW for 40 years. Lucasfilms purposely took what they enjoyed and destroyed it in these films - especially Last Jedi.

""Last Jedi" and "Force Awakens" isn't a matter of important core values or conflicting world views"

The PT had that. It told the story of how a democracy becomes a totalitarian state. An important lesson especially during the current political atmosphere in the U.S. and in Europe with autocrats gaining power.
The OT had some interesting philosophical lessons. "Don't try. Do or do not." or "Whose the greater fool? The fool or the one who follows the fool?" I also liked the values about friendship and loyalty. The Jedi religion is loosely based on Buddhism.

The new films are fluff though. Totally agree.

That didn't happen, and to continue claiming it is flat-out lying. Maybe you're not lying, maybe you just read the "catchy headline" and failed to read any further.

This little childish fiction is getting out of hand, like Arghhhh constantly pretending that JJ Abrams stuffed TFA full of "mystery boxes" and thus left it riddled with plot holes.

I point out the flaws in these whiny complaints all the time but most haters don't want to listen, they just want to repeat themselves ad nauseum until there's no one left listening except other haters.

Keep in mind: I didn't like Last Jedi at all. I just got out what I had to say, unlike Arghhhh who STILL complains CONSTANTLY about The Force Awakens.

Your levels of projection are quite something Otter.

"Maybe I just dislike people who get all worked up and angry about frivolous subjects."

You're on these boards day and night, calling people who don't like the film incels, wishing their 'heads would blow up' and God knows what else.

This form of hypocrisy seems to be very common with those who view themselves as morally superior. It seems to go something like: "I wish all these hateful, angry people, whom I hate as they make me angry, would all just die so then there would only be nice people around like me". If only we had some kind of an example from history where this line of thinking takes us.

reply

Seems I hit a nerve!

reply

It is clear you are a first generation atheist with Christian heritage and you resent being compared with the religious impulse you think you left behind.

reply

That being the case, one wonders how you can swallow the hypocrisy of posting over 2700 messages on a forum dedicated to the "frivolous" subject of films.

reply

Oh yeah, I hit some nerves.

reply

Somehow you think your hypocrisy is "hitting nerves"?

No, its just perplexing how you think people can't see your posts for what they are, you're really not as dynamic as you'd like to think.

reply

Give it up galahad you worthless troll sock, I'll point out your idiocy to everyone I see who runs into you.

You're the guy who worships the intellect of a user who LITERALLY didn't know the difference between night and day.

If that's not the most perfect example of what kind of an idiot you are, then nothing is.

reply

Oh spanners, after the debacle that was you trying to defend Prometheus and you had how many breakdowns as you had to take several enforced "holidays" from IMDB, I think most people will sensibly pass your posts by.

You're irrelevant, nearly 6000 posts of "meh, is that it?"

You were easily dispensed with on IMDB, nothing changes here :)

reply

I will give you credit for being smart enough not to try responding to the idiocy that you had agreed with in tardarian's "masterpiece" and completely avoiding any discussion or defense of his intense retardation that he displayed in that mindless diatribe (hell, I doubt you ever read the entire thing, I doubt you have the attention span for such a feat).

Just keep playing the arrogance card instead of facing the facts, that's all you need to do... But don't ever imagine that you're anything more than another troll.

reply

I agree wholeheartedly with Taudarians MASTERPIECE.

Ive managed to stomach your intensely naive defence of Prometheus, I can sit through anything after that.

As for being a troll....do you remember that I dont care what you think?

You literally ran away screaming from IMDB because you have nary the stomach for a discussion that doesnt go your way.

Toughen up bitch......

reply

Don't worry about galahadfairlydim, he is an old-school IMDb troll who will be perfectly happy to start slinging insults and stalking you for years.

Trust me, he is not worth dealing with. I can point you in the direction of an example of how stupid he is, if you'd like me to.

reply

Weak........ cry some more spanners, no-one cares

reply

That's why I rarely post on the Disney Star Wars boards, too many awful, toxic, hateful people. The sort of people whose aim in life is to drag others into a morass of insults and enmeshed hatred.

And nobody there actually wants to talk about Star Wars!

reply

What a weenie.

reply

I wouldn't say TFA is garbage, I generally liked it despite some painfully stupid moments. What I can't do is watch it again after the train-wreck of TLJ.

reply

Quote the Sue: "The garbage will do"

reply

The same happened to me.

Johnson should work at AA or NA since he's able to create a strong aversion to things.

reply

Shapiro is a slimy little cunt that needs a good kick in the ass.

reply

When a religious man like Shapiro's mantra is "facts don't care about your feelings" I tend to tune that hypocrite out.

reply

Well, most Christians manage to place "Faith" and "Facts" in different folders, and deal with them separately, which indeed works surprisingly well.

Problem with SJWs, Diversitist and Feminists is that it's a new religion, and they are still unable to separate their beliefs from the real world.

Sadly, SJWs have still a long way ahead before reaching the point Christians have already reached.

Shapiro is a joke and this is YET ANOTHER HATER TOPIC that DOESN'T HAVE THE BALLS to offer a personal opinion SO THE HATER REFERENCES ANOTHER HATER in an attempt at EMPTY VALIDATION.

Also yet another topic that completely ignores the existence of the prequels and lives in the current toxic fantasy-land where everything George Lucas made was gold, regardless of actual history.

But George can be worshiped still because he's a man. Kathleen Kennedy doesn't get that level of respect.

reply

Nobody said everything Lucas made was gold. Prequels were a failure, that's widely agreed.

However, modern ones are a bad copypaste that besides sells some political/religious agenda. And that lies far far below doing your best and failing.

reply

Prequels were a failure, that's widely agreed.

This is a rewrite of history. The prequels were more or less well liked by the majority of the fanbase despite the criticisms. Widely considered not as good as the OT? Sure but it is hardy "widely believed" that they were failures. The redlettermedia Plinket reviews seemed to have skewed this perceptions of a lot of people who enjoyed them.

reply

This is a rewrite of history

Not at all. PM and AOC are widely considered as failed movies, while ROS mostly ranges from decent to good to very good, depending on who you ask. For a trilogy, which is like a very long movie split in three parts, that's a failure.

reply

I'd agree that there is widely held acknowledgement of specific flaws within these films but the idea of them being perceived as flat out "failures" by the general audience is simply inaccurate. Yes a very passionate & vocal segment of the fanbase has expressed this sentiment for years & to a fault IMO as it contributed to what we're getting with this soulless Di$ney clusterf*ck of a ST.
