prequel?

since solo is the worst prequel of all time, whats the best? mine is the godfather pt. 2, also the greatest sequel of all time and the greatest movie of all time. is that even possible?

reply

You've got it a all backwards. Solo is the best prequel of the Star Wars series. Revenge of the Sith is the worst, closely followed by Attack of the Clones, which is a hair's breadth worse than the Phantom Menace. Rogue One used to be the best prequel of the bunch, but that wasn't saying much, and Solo dwarfs it.

reply

yea I believe the dwarf part.

"Geniuses" like you are the reason why Disney destroyed Star Wars. Cause you are still stating that idiotic statement that the prequels were bad movies. Its your fault that Disney destroyed Star Wars forever!

reply

In what world are those films anything other than trash? There is no momentum to any of the stories, the plots meander everywhere for no reason, and characters act in random fashion, all moving towards a predetermined finale without any effort made to justify their arriving there. They're poorly-made films by every measure.

If you have a special place in your heart for them because you saw them as a child and enjoyed them, that's one thing, but don't defend them based on qualities they don't have.

You've made it abundantly clear that your political views preclude you from being honest about the recent Star Wars films, but must your inability to be honest to yourself and others extend so far as to pretend The Phantom Menace is a cinematic masterpiece???

reply

In that world we call reality. The prequels were Star Wars movies. They included the spirit of StarWars. They offered new worlds and still had all the charm of the old movies. Indeed there were weak points like that Medichlorian nonsense and especially .... Yar Yar. Also the fact that he began the story with some trade war wasnt the best idea to start an ew trilogy.

But beside that thos movies were good movies. And only thos f*ckin man babies destroyed it and therefor build the way to ugliest trash ever released within the Star Wars franchise. Disney Star Wars. You have no idea how hated folks like you are in the meantime. Im not such a huge Star Wars fan (alwas liked Star Trek better), but it would have been fun to see thos amazing Star Wars movies again in the 21st century. But thanks to Lucas haters like you all the movie audience get is thoughtless trash of the worst kind mixed with many insults to the moviegoers! Thanks a lot man :) !

And BTW Phantom Menace indeed was the weakest of the prequel movies. But compared with any Disney trash (even when you leave KKs agenda out of this equation) even this Yar Yar, Madichlorian and trade war infected piece of movie appears like a masterpiece today!

reply

I suppose I should expect someone who resorts to insults rather than engage in a friendly discussion of movies here to find merit in the awful prequels. Thankfully you are part of a tiny, tiny minority that thinks so, as evidenced by the fact that that hack Lucas has been booted off of Star Wars for life, and the recent films are among the most successful films ever made in the history of cinema. But keep on enjoying those prequels.

And FWIW, though it is an awful, awful film, The Phantom Menace is the best of the three. They got progressively worse. Or maybe it only felt that way.

reply

I see. Most successful. Thats why Soylo was the first SW movie with a loss and thats why TLJ got a strong decline in profits compared with TFA. And thats why Star Wars Ep 4 made way more more domestic then any of the Disney SW "movies".

And thats why most moviegoers right now give a sh*t about Star Wars anymore. Cause .... of the huge success of Disney SW :) .

And BTW Thanks for destroying Star Wars by mobbing Lucas, you ****t!

reply

I'm sorry you and the teensy weensy number of people who can't tell a quality film from Darth Vader yelling noooooo into Jar Jar's ear are disappointed. The remaining 99% of the film-going public are happy to see Star Wars back on track, and glad to again see films on par with the original trilogy.

Also, your numbers are nonsense. Of course The Last Jedi made less than The Force Awakens. Every movie in the history of movies made less than it. And, it's normal that a sequel does less. The Empire Strikes Back made only $209 million to Star Wars' $307 million, and many think that's the best of the original trilogy. I know by your standards, Empire is no Attack of the Clones, but I'm talking about the rest of us, those who can discern good from bad.

So yeah, live in your fantasy world where The Force Awakens isn't the breathtaking journey back to the halcyon days of Star Wars that we all know it to be. Whine about Rey, and try to come up with some nonsense reason she's not amazing. And try to pretend that the 1st and 8th highest-grossing films in U.S. film history are in any sense of the word flops/failures/disappointments. The rest of the world is rejoicing that Lucas the Hack is banned for life from ruining Star Wars any more than he already has. He can go CGI some Ewoks and Jabba into his home movies instead.

reply

Star Wars back on track withe hugest loss in the history of Star Wars. I clearly see your point here :) .

and BTW Thanks again for destroying Star Wars! You got it in the meantime that Star Wars fnas hate losers like you. Cause you mobbed Lucas away. And now Star Wars is destroyed thanks to manbabies like you.

reply

Manbaby? The only one I see shedding tears is you, over the loss of your beloved Jar Jar and George.

reply

ah, hyperbole. Solo is a serviceable movie with a few good ideas (and a few bad ones).

What these Disney SW movies lack is the rampant imagination and storytelling originality we got with Lucas. I wonder if we will ever get another iconic Opera Scene, father reveal, Order 66, Binary Sunset etc.. not to talk about the art design and world building...

reply

there might be good art design in solo if I could see it behind the friking darkness of most scenes
.

reply

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. (Its a loose trilogy but still acts as a prequel!)

reply

I think you might be right.

I got one. what 2 main characters played in godfather 2 and the freshman?

reply

My prequel rankings:

- Godfather Part II
- Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
- Revenge of the Sith
- The Hobbit Franchise

reply

Are these best or worst? Throwing in the horrible Hobbit movies and RotS with Godfather pt2 and Temple of Doom confused me.

reply

Godfather II the best The hobbit the worst

reply

Got it. I thought you were saying all 4 were either the 4 best or 4 worst! That didn't compute!

reply

I'm not sure I would say worst, but definitely the most boring prequel of all time.

reply

Isn't 'Terminator" both prequel and sequel in the same movie?

reply

see my Godfather II comment below:

reply

Except Godfather II wasn't precisely a sequel, was it? It jumped back and forth from the past while at the same time carrying on a story from a previous film. So I'd say it was either a prequel/sequel hybrid, or more likely an attempt at duplicating the narrative complexity of a novel in the context of a sequel.
