Too late now but Anthony Ingruber from The Age of Adaline should of played a young Solo!

I have to say, acting ability is going to be a LOT more important than a physical resemblance when casting this role. The actor has to be able to put across badassery and cool with an underlying heart of gold, which is harder than it sounds.
I haven't seen enough of either actor to have a valid opinion about their abilities, this is a general comment.

I doubt that the height issue will even register on the big screen.
I remember being aghast that Andy Garcia was cast in a lead role in Godfather III. His performance turned out to be the best thing about the film. So Alden may surprise us all. I’m far more concerned about another Lucasfilm hack job.

Height certainly won't register on the screen with Emilia Clarke as a co-star.
Eensy Kit Harrington looks tall next to her!
I don't really like Anthony Ingruber - he acts like a guy trying way too hard to act like Ford. He *way* overdoes the Ford-isms. I don't know much about Alden beyond seeing him in Hail Caesar which I thought he was very good in (But never once did I think he looked like Ford). We shall see!
