The 'Knockout Round'

The Knockout Round AKA Last Chance Kitchen is completely unfair this season. How is it fair that Marcel/Brooke will have to face 7 other challengers to make there way back in, but the last cook to film their episode and lose will only have to beat 1 person to come back in? It makes sense on Top Chef because if you are eliminated first with EVERYONE in the house playing then you technically got last place you should have the hardest path to coming back on. But with Duels you are only playing against one person so it makes no sense for Marcel/Brooke to have to beat EVERY single contestant who loses a duel to make it back when hypothetically the last person to film their episode only has to cook once.

Well, isn't it comforting to know that being miserable is still better than being an idiot?

No, that's not exactly how it's working. Brooke won her first Knockout Round, so she automatically advances to the final round. But Wednesday night, she went up against Mike I. and Mike I. won. So now they BOTH advance to the final round. Next week, Mike I. will go up against whoever loses the duel. If Mike I. wins again, that person is done, but if the new person wins, then all three of them: Brooke, Mike I. and the new person will advance to the final round. Repeat as necessary.

It's absolutely ridiculous. If every single person who loses their duel (with the exception of Marcel) wins the knockout round, then ALL of the losing contestants will be in the final round of the knockout. I'm not sure what the final round will be, but maybe everyone who won the knockout will compete against one another in one big free for all? I think that Last Chance Kitchen can have its place in Top Chef, but not in the Duels, because it just doesn't work (IMO).

Oh that's interesting, I guess that makes more sense than what I originally thought was happening. I never watched it but just saw at the end of the episode that Brooke was going up against Mike so I thought it was like Last Chance Kitchen. Either way is dumb. They should have done it bracket style or just not done it at all.

I was really confused, until I watched this week's episode. They kept saying whoever wins goes right to the final round, so I was shocked to see Mike was going up against Brooke, assuming that she didn't have to do anything else. But Brooke said she didn't want Mike to win because she didn't want to have to go against him again in the final round (which she does, anyway). I do not like the way they're doing this and wish they could have done without the whole prospect for this season.

If they have to do it, then I like your idea of bracket style.
