Actually, Mike lost a lot of weight and then gained it back. And he's mellowed since his original Top Chef days. He's opened a string of successful restaurants in DC—plus a sandwich shop in his native New Jersey—and the sandwich shop also sells fellow TC alum Carla Hall's petite cookies.
And you just know the producers pitted him against Antonia since it was determined during Top Chef All Stars that they were distant cousins. I'm sure both Mike and Antonia were encouraged to snipe at one another throughout their competition.

Not really, no. I guess it's disappointing for people who like reality competition for the cock fighting side of things but it was actually a good episode.
