The only good found footage (first person camera) type film was pretty much the first one which invented it..... Blair Witch Project. When I saw that in theaters it kind of blew my mind, and it was scary as fvck. I think it even gave me nightmares, I was around 14 or 15 when I saw it. But since then no film attempting it has done it well.

The Blair Witch Project did not invent the found footage genre. It brought it back to a broader audience however. BWP bored me to tears until the last 5 min. or so. The ending was clever, I'll give it that. But what I believe is the best "found footage" movie is "Troll Hunter". It's a foreign film so sadly most people won't watch it due to *GASP* subtitles. I even liked "Europa Report" better than BWP.

But that's the thing with movies, not everyone likes the same stuff. 

If the movie is well shot, this will sell like hotcakes for the Virtual Reality crowd. They have the expensive gear and want to experience the first person action.

Thats the reason this is a hype now. Media and early adopter are driving it. And not to forget, this is also true for this kind of "personal" porn now.

It was a lot like it couldn't decide if it wanted to be found footage or not. End Of Watch was another movie with exactly this kind of identity crisis.
