8/10 from me - don't understand the hate.

I decided to give the movie a whirl after coming across the trailer on youtube. While I do understand that the second half films different from the first half of the film and it was venturing out on what felt like something out of the Outer Limits/Twilight Zone (picked that up from another thread but agree with the idea) it was still enough to keep me intrigued.

I didn't hate the ambiguous ending at all, I thought it was done well enough and it didn't end abruptly. Is it a simulation or is it not a simulation? At that point, it doesn't really matter at all simply because their 400 days is up. But since I don't mind making up my own ending (having given been the opportunity), I'm guessing that it's not a simulation and they only just had a prerecorded message played for them.

why the hate? because there is a fine line between an open amigious ending and complete utter *beep* there is a saying: don't mistake lack of talent for genious,

It's the mob mentality. Avengers or Deadpool are "cool" so let's kiss their asses but this is a small movie and it says scifi but there's no special effects or big action scenes and the ending doesn't give me all the answers wrapped with a bow. HATE IT!

Couldn't be further from the truth. The effects are decent and it doesn't set you up for big action scenes anyway. When you say it doesn't give all the answers, that would mean it gave some answers at least, but in reality it gives nothing. It's like the writer was randomly throwing things to see what sticks, and at some point decided to call it a day and go home.

Oh *beep* off. That isn't the case at all. I watched this movie not knowing a thing about it going in, and I was into it, right up until the complete lack of an ending. The fact that no conclusion makes any sense is the problem. It has nothing to do with budget, or lack of action. It's that the "plot" makes absolutely no sense.

I also thought it could be a pre-recorded message. I actually want to watch it again and pay more attention.

Yes it's previewed and yes it's s complete shît ending.

The problem people have with the movie is that it doesn't bother to answer ANY of the questions the writers purposely brought up in the script.

The problem is, there's no scenario we can invent that actually makes sense from everything the movie presents us with. Whether we want to conclude that it's a simulation or not, there is evidence directly contradicting either scenario.

"Is it a simulation or is it not a simulation?"

What would be the point of 'simulating' any of what happens after they leave the 'ship'? They've failed at that point. The idea was their project was supposed to see how people handle the stress of 400 days in isolation, not to find out what happens if you release those people into a nonsensical environment.

It's really stupid either way.

I can't possibly imagine anyone giving this 8/10. Have you ever seen any other movies? Anywhere? This isn't even a movie, it's just a few CW actors walking around speaking lines. There isn't a plot so much as an idea someone once had and wrote on a cocktail napkin. The "ambiguous" ending is only there to distract you.

This is a TERRIBLE movie.
