I haven't seen this movie and most likely will not. I came to this board after reading an article about the lead actor and I thank you for your comment. It lets me know I don't want to watch this movie. I have watched two movies by written and directed by Gaspar Noe and I was not impressed even though they are highly rated on IMDb. I guess my taste in movies runs a little less toward the shock and graphic sexual scenes he seems to have a penchant for.
When I read the article and then the synopsis on IMDb for this movie it gave off the feel of a soft core porn movie -- little substance but lots of sex. I guess I will be skipping this one.
I have not explored any more of Gaspar Noe's movies since those first two and didn't really read comments on his board at the time of viewing those movies. After reading some of the comments here I am leaning toward the viewpoint of some who think his is kind of creepy.

I am not going to buy that the guy's behavior is correct, or I should root for him because a hot French girl had sex with him in every way possible and then he broke a condom with another girl, ending it in a pregnancy and down settling. Sorry.
The guy is the biggest loser I've seen on a screen since Trump this afternoon. He calls the mother of his child "a bitch" and feels miserable because now he has to hide his porn and drugs from his son, who ruined his life of sex and hedonism. Right, poor fella.
The French girl, Electra had serious drug and mental problems, and the ending suggest she probably got pregnant. My theory is that she moved out of town and went to be with her father (Electra complex) so she could raise her baby away from drugs, alcohol, and losers like her ex.
The movie is beautifully shot, no doubt about it, but the characters are stupid and made me want to yell at the TV: Is this how you behave in the greatest City in the World?
I don't know if it's hipster but it sure is better than porn...
