Worth checking out. Rourke shines.
"Ashby" stars the always interesting MIckey Rourke as the title character. He plays an ex CIA murderer for hire who has but 3 months to live because of cancer. He befriends high school student and overall dork Nat Wolff. Wolff wants to interview him for a class project, not knowing who Rourke really is/was. This also stars Sarah Silverman, whom I've always thought was funny, and Emma Roberts. There is some good chemistry at times, and Mickey lifts this movie from your average fare by his ability to make you care for him. He is doing his best to make things right with God while tying up a couple loose ends. Silverman and Wolff play a good mother and son duel. Much of this is far fetched, but like I said Rourke adds a little bit of old school talent in the mix. Slighty better than average, and worthy of a rental, ** 1/2 out of 4 stars.
