Worth checking out. Rourke shines.

"Ashby" stars the always interesting MIckey Rourke as the title character. He plays an ex CIA murderer for hire who has but 3 months to live because of cancer. He befriends high school student and overall dork Nat Wolff. Wolff wants to interview him for a class project, not knowing who Rourke really is/was. This also stars Sarah Silverman, whom I've always thought was funny, and Emma Roberts. There is some good chemistry at times, and Mickey lifts this movie from your average fare by his ability to make you care for him. He is doing his best to make things right with God while tying up a couple loose ends. Silverman and Wolff play a good mother and son duel. Much of this is far fetched, but like I said Rourke adds a little bit of old school talent in the mix. Slighty better than average, and worthy of a rental, ** 1/2 out of 4 stars.

on the cover he looks like he is wearing someone else's face, i didn't even recognised him even after i saw his name

There are times especially in profile shot where he doesn't look his best. Now I will say his wig was god awful and it looked like painted hay.

That nitpicky crap being said, I rarely actually lol at movies and this one had some quick witted dialog that made me really laugh out loud.

Rourke is great I have always thought he was a good actor and the kid is great too.

I enjoyed the film. I think he looked like hell because he was dying, maybe it was a wig, we dont know for example that he may have already been going through chemo, we just start when he is told he only has 3 months left.....

I must admit like you i didnt really recognise him. I really enjoyed this movie and actually cried at the end of it, how sad am I. He thought he was doing the right thing until the his new friend mentioned about the look in his victims eyes, and he suddenly woke up to the fact one of them didnt have that. I kind of like the way he dealt with it, justice, and the end with the Will was cool too.

Yeh i enjoyed it, wasnt sure i would to be honest, but i must admit the wig was a bit off putting, but then i just got used to it lol.

Thought this was the best thing I have seen from Mickey Rourke in years.

Cool.

Yes the wig (extensions maybe?) was horrible! I noticed it in the first scene and it distracted me every time Rourke was on the screen. I must say he looks better with a bit of facial hair.. seems to hide the scars a bit.
