Belinda Brown's kids are what inner-city teachers put up with everyday

Whoever did this show researched African-American culture very well, or grew up with it.

I'm honestly shocked no one has called this show racist yet, but the portrayal of Belinda Brown and her kids is SPOT ON accurate. So spot-on, it hurts.

Especially the dad. I don't know how they get away with it.

Everything else is kind of a fantasy though and would probably get you in the newspaper.

I think your opinion is racist, seeing every inner city kid like that is ignorant.

There are plenty non inner city kids who are just as bad.

reply

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Maybe you want to actually go get a job in the hood or live there before trying to be the authority here.

You sound pretty stupid.

reply

I thought they were pretty mild. Those kids weren't doing anything that any other boys growing up anywhere else in the US would be doing at those ages. Hell, I did A LOT worse and I grew up in an all white town with a population of 1500.

You wanna see a more accurate depiction of inner city school kids on a modern TV show? Watch season 4 of The Wire.

reply

Bulls-t. You've never been to the hood.

You may notice, watching Prez's first day, the similarities in behavior between the kids in that class, and Belinda's kids. Let's be honest, Belinda has a great job and likely sends her kids to the same school district, which is mostly white, or a private school, which is how they were dressed. They really shouldn't be acting like that, but the maker of the show is trying to prove a point and is not holding back. They know what they're doing.

reply

He never said he went to the "hood" as you call it. We get it. Your insight was grand and spectacular. It's the post message boards were made for. We are all better off having read it. Your opinion is now fact and I hope I can live by the high standards you have set.

reply

Well, you can go to the hood and see for yourself.

Go to a white school afterwards to see the contrast.

I feel like people post these things and agree with it because it's The Wire, but don't have the slightest clue what they're talking about.

I haven't rewatched that season, but hood schools are a lot worse.

reply

You're an idiot. Like seriously. Belinda and her kids are hilarious

reply

Kids, play nice.

Jody Hill does his homework, if he's going to depict a type of person, race, region, authority figure, occupation of any sort, he's going to do it right. That's what makes this show and Eastbound so funny.

One part I loved is when the little timid white football player suddenly screams "LETS WIN THIS FOR *beep* DR. BROWN!" so funny hearing his voice screech and his decision to throw in a major obscenity after she started saying a few, it was brilliant and realistic.

reply

It's also funny, because a school like that would never hire someone like her to be a principal, so it makes it even more hilarious.

The only quibble I have though is that her kids wouldn't be bad like that, but it's part of the joke that she has these out of control, hoodrat kids. Usually, any principal's kids are going to be well-behaved. I mean, your dad works at the same school you go to, lol. Most principals don't let their kids get away with anything either like you see in the business world.

reply

Yea I'm surprised her kids are skipping school and smoking weed during the day (also pretty surprised belinda didn't notice the stench of weed on the kids when she hugged them) but i maybe their behavior stems from their father...nonetheless it was a little surprising to see that belina was even involved with a guy as degenerate as her ex husband you'd think someone with her background would find someone a little more educated....but black women do have one of the hardest times marrying out of their demographic.
