Not Enough Bad Guys....

I just watched this....

I liked it, rated it 7.5/10....I'm a sucker for action movies....

I enjoyed the first one, IMO Its better than this one.

But my biggest complaint in this film was The Climax just didnt have enough Bad Guys to kill...there was basically 3 bad guys....at that point in the movie the stage was set, the story was told, you just wanted to see Denzel Kill some Bad Guys....and They set the climax in This abandoned town where anything can go...It would have been perfect to have a true Climax, where Denzel went through the whole Town killing 10 or 12 Bad guys....

Instead Its like a 15 Minute finale where there are 2 and 3 mins stretches where nothing happens because they are setting up 1 of the 3 kills....

IMO it would have been much better if there were more bad guys and the Climax was all action showing Denzel Pick them off one by one....

Basically the entire movie suffered from this for me.....each action sequence happened so fast(it was designed that way) that they just werent that enjoyable

I'm actually surprised it did this well at the box office, Its a real indicator of Denzel's drawing power...

and we'll probably end up getting a Trilogy with The success this one had....

I really like The director, I hope he comes back, I just hope he tweaks a few things

anybody have a problem with A lot of Bad Guys during the climax? there was only 3 Bad Guys for Denzel to kill(I'm not counting The Lead bad guy on top on the Tower , The second he went up there I knew thats where he would stay and Denzel would work his way up to him, but it took him out of the Climax, It left Only 3 bad guys for Denzel to kill)

I expected a few more to kill.

Denzel was great as ever but these films need to offer much more invention. The fight scenes were OK but kinda bland compared to The Raid films, hell The Matrix was 20 years ago and the fights are still jaw-dropping. There’s stuff on TV which impresses more than the rather rote action on display here.

A solid sequel but these R-rated action films are all too rare and need to really offer something special if they’re to survive, this one didn’t.

I mostly agree. The movie is surprisingly dull apart from the 2 brief action sequences leading up to the somewhat underwhelming final showdown. The first film was much better in my opinion. Denzel is good but overall the story, acting, and pacing aren't as good. For some reason I found the worst parts of the movie to being his interactions with the young wayward "street" kid which I found to be incredibly boring and cliche along with the actor being blandly irritating.
