Anyone else think specializations are a chore in this game?

I'm usually the first person defending this game when people comment negatively on its design choices, but seriously, forcing dull and overly long fetch-quests on players to let them unlock a specialization? If the maps were smaller, I would tolerate it, but as of now I just skip the specializations altogether.

Yes.

Where the hell is the lazurite so I can become a damn Knight Enchanter already?

I've found quite a bit in the Western Approach.

I had to take a break from the game... I've had it since Boxing Day - played 85 hours.

I'm at level 18 Knight Enchanter, and feel extremely OP.

I couldn't get a 3rd Venatori Tome (for rift mage) to save my life. Gave up, became a KE. To have the specialization quest depend on random drops, I didn't like that at all. The specializations, while not required, are still important because they do unlock some powerful abilities.

Just finished my first playthrough...love the DA franchise.

My only other complaint is that I ended up with 215 unused power, what is the point of that?

If you do a lot of side quests you're going to have more power than you need. I means little overall.
