Non-GMO Beets
So because of the misguided idea that GMO's are bad, there has been a huge increase in demand for sugar beets that are non-GMO. The problem is that GM sugar beets were originally developed to combat pests that attacked them and required the frequent application of pesticides that also run off when it rains and pollute sources of drinking water. So tell me, would you rather have sugar from pesticide leaden non-GMO beets or pesticide free from the GMO beets?
