The first one was
so much more funny. This was mildly entertaining, but I won't watch it again.
As for the first one, it was very funny, and I've watched it numerous times and probably will watch it again.

I watched it just last night and had pretty much the same reaction. It seemed that much of the humor was forced, and much of it forced to tie in with the first one. An entertaining diversion because I like the actors, but not too much there. The focus on the old people trying to rectify their "non-marriage" over 50 years earlier is only mildly interesting. And the focus on the daughter deciding on a college seemed almost like an afterthought.
Most of the focus seemed to be the large, loud extended family that always had to get involved in the business of everyone and while some of that is entertaining it often is not.
Still I am glad that I took the time to see it. John Corbett and I (as a viewer) go back to his days as "Chris in the Morning" on the old "Northern Exposure" TV series, one of my all-time favorites. And Lainie Kazan and I go back to the late 1960s when I saw her perform live when I was in college. She was one of the best singers in her prime and I have a CD of her music.

TxMike, I agree about the actors. I really liked John Corbett on United States of Tara.
