Anyone get offended by the semen joke?

I personally did not find this funny at all, it was a sexist joke and I don't think it put Greeks in a very good light (making them out to be backward and uneducated). I know it came from the old man, and yes they have old stereo-typed beliefs generally but I personally just didn't think it was necessary.

Calm down. It was funny. It was also written by a woman...so.

What...slow sperm?

reply

It wasnt funny at all, it was prejudiced against vegetarians for a start, and deeply sexist against women. If my father in law said that to me, id kick the *beep* out of him!

reply

I'm sure you'll get over it and live to see another day. It's not that much of a life altering line. You really going to let two words hurt your feelings?

reply

Dont worry its not going to disturb me in anyway! I was just pointing out that it wasnt funny and was offensive, what do I care, this isnt my type of movie anyway.

reply

Yet...you watched it and then felt the need to post about it. Not something I would do if it wasn't my type of movie. Just saying

reply

I have too much time on my hands so I posted it cus I felt like it!

reply

Well at least you're honest

Prejudiced against vegetarians?! 😂 Now I've heard everything!

reply

I thought it was disgusting.

If you are so easily offended, there are a pant load of movies far more provocative that you should avoid. Or perhaps simply stop dreaming up things to bitch about!

No I wasn't, and I'm a feminist at heart. I believe the very point of it was that a lot of old men make these kind of jokes in real life too. And yes, if someone said that to your face in real life, you definitely should punch them in the face, but in this movie, it indirectly actually makes a valid point about many older men. Also, don't forget he himself put a woman in this world, and every women in this movie is very strong. So what does that say about him?

So no. It's not offensive to vegetarians and /or women in my point of view. I do agree it's a prejudice and a cliché, but honey, no offense, did you even look at this movie and it's prequel? It is 100% based on cliches, and that's fine. Most of the time, a cliche is based on the cold hard truth and you should be able to laugh about that. So relax and don't take everything so personal. Pick your battles. Take a stand in older actors being linked to much younger actrices all the time. Climb the fences over actors being praised for their achievements but actresses being asked about their dresses. Be angry at Hollywood for whitewashing a lot of movies. Do all of that, but please, don't fall over one minor joke that actually made fun of older, sexist men, and not women or -god forbid- vegetarians

I thought it was hilarious. ?
