The BEST Asterix film to date.

Such a great adaptation of the book (one of my fave Asterix graphic novels). I was so surprised by the quality of the film and how faithful this adaptation has been, after so many disappointing live action blockbusters with Gerard Depardieu... A pity it has open in Spain versus Avengers 2, making the appeal to check it out, extremely limited... still, it's the better film, out of the two.

I really didn't like the last one. The one against the Vikings I think. But I was looking forward to this one. Glad to see it got nice reviews.

I preferred 'Les Douze Travaux d’Astérix' but you are right, this movie was really great. Do you have any info on how much it did on the box office? Seems not that much but I hope they do a sequel that gets better marketing. This movie was so much more better than the live action movies or the last 2 animated ones :D

it was!

This is my new favorite Asterix movie. Asterix et Cléopatre is my second favorite. They made Asterix a true hero (something he rarely ever is, even in the comic book). I really liked the execution of this one, and how they strayed away from the comic book in an original fashion.

I'd like if the next movie mixed the stories of "Le bouclier averne" and "Le tour de Gaule", two of my favorites!

I'm not quite sure if I could call this one better than Twelve Tasks, but this blows all the other Asterix films of the past, geez, 30 years. (there have been some decent ones in-between like Britain and Vs Caesar, but never getting the tone right). The animation was perfect, they got the Roman-bashing right and it focused properly on Asterix & Obelix themselves, rather than new characters.

Not only was it super faithful, but the expansions worked too, given that while the Mansion of The Gods is one of the most popular stories, it's not the most action-packed. (And putting invincible Gauls at risk is a tricky task.) I was a bit worried when they gave Anonymous a kid, but he turned to be thankfully non-annoying.
