Bane? Seriously?

Not only was Shane West as Bane the worst iteration I've ever seen, I can't decide if it was supposed to be an intentional parody. It was beyond comical. Tom Hardy's version is Oscar worthy in comparison, and I hated that one too. Worse, Bane doesn't come into existence until years after Batman has been around. It's bad enough every other villain was forced in early, but this one is beyond ludicrous. They just wanted a back breaking scene, so they took a big dump on the story and had him break Alfred instead. Pathetic writing at its worst. The entire episode was cringe inducing. They're really ending this series horribly. The writers were given a chance to wrap it up and they decided to wrap it in shit.

Was last night the final episode?

reply

No. Two more episodes. I'm not optimistic.

What are the plot lines ? When is the final episode

reply

Oh cool, I was thinking it was finishing up last night. I'm more optimistic than you about it though lol. I've enjoyed the show but this season feels pretty rushed since it's the last and they seem to want to cram everything in. After hating Batman vs Superman I've found Gotham a major step up so I'm not complaining about anything.

I have to agree it's a step up from Batman vs. Superman. That one really set the bar low.

reply

It looked like a joke.

Well, this show has long taken liberties with the source material, they've even admitted many a time that they're really just doing their own thing, and the show is more "inspired by" than "based on." I mean it can be irritating, but I feel one's happier if they just take it as its own thing.

Overall I thought 5x10 was a solid episode, there were really just two things that bugged me.

1: Nyssa was totally obvious. Not "right from the start" or anything, because she barely hit my radar her first few episodes. Which I suppose was the point. But the moment she appeared next to Bane, it was painfully obvious, and I can't believe it took so long for stupid Bruce to figure it out. Like hello Bruce, how many people have you killed? That should shoot right to the top of your list.

2: Selina shouldn't have charged at Bane, she should've used her whip, but obviously it was done as an easy way to get to the meat of the scene.

The worst Bane? Apparently you skipped "Batman and Robin" -- wise move.

reply

You're absolutely correct. I refused to watch that one. I didn't even know Bane was in it. I wholeheartedly accept on faith, that Bane was worse.

I HATED the Bane from Batman and Robin.

He was just a strong henchman, and just wondered around doing what the other characters told him to do.

In the comics Bane broke The Batman. This version of Bane looked like he'd struggle to break wind.

reply

This Bane is absolutely pathetic.. They didn't even need to introduce him into this show..
