Do you think they'd like Uma Thurman as Ivy's Aunt?

Nostalgic/mythology casting is common on superhero TV shows, and Gotham is no exception. They cast Paul Reubens, who played Penguin's father in Batman Returns, to play Penguin's father in Gotham. And a couple of the cast members said they'd like to see Jim Carrey as the Riddler's father and Michelle Pfieffer as Selina's mother:

Now the obvious response is: No, Batman and Robin is universally reviled, and it's best to forget it.

But couldn't you say the same thing about 1984's Supergirl? That movie had a horrible reputation, as did Superman III. Yet the makers of the new Supergirl show and Smallville were eager to cast Helen Slater and Annette O'Toole in huge parts.

So this is really a broader question about the draw/limit of Easter Egg casting in general. I personally loved the 90s Flash show, but was it really so fondly remembered that the CW thought it'd be cool to cast John Wesley Shipp and Mark Hamill in major roles and bring back Amanda Pays, as if they were paying tribute to some great celebrated classic?

(For the record, I think Uma Thurman is a talented actress and could have actually pulled off Poison Ivy with a better script and tone).

If the show-runners were able to pull in an Oscar-nominated actress of her caliber, or, bizarrely, Uma Thurman expressed some interest in playing a character related to Ivy herself, do you think they'd be open to that?

No. As much as I like Uma, everyone pretty much agrees that B&R is one of, if not the worst CBM of all time. Paying homage to anything in it, besides of course a parody, would not go over well.

Yeah well, you know that’s just like, your opinion man.

I think they need to stay away from the cameos. Too distracting.

The night beckons, like a finger curling and uncurling as if to say "Hey, come here."
