Obi Wan,Boba Fett Or Yoda as the Third stand alone film?

Personally I would go Obi Wan over them both. As I would see the Boba Fett film being boring and not feeling a Star Wars film. Yoda as cool as it would be to would also be silly basically be a muppets film following him around. But Obi Wan could follow him through 3 different parts of his life in between the films.

As a youngling/Padawan being trained by Qui Gon before Episode I. Then training Anakin before Episode II. Then as a old man watching over Luke before Episode IV so much to fill. And Ewan Mcgregor would still be perfect to they can digitall make him younger and older in the film.

Obi Wan is a dead cert. McGregor wants it badly and no one really wants to pin a whole movie on Yoda or Boba Fett.

I love McGregor as Obi Wan, but yeah, what's the movie gonna be about? Obi Wan in a cave observing Luke for three hours? Is Terrence Malick going to direct?

reply

Obi-Wan. Make it happen.

And they can do Yoda next. I mean, we still don't even know what species his character is yet and a Yoda movie could delve into some "Knights of the Old Republic" territory too.

How does it feel to be deconstructed?

I think I'd take Obi-Wan as well. Though I wouldn't be terribly opposed to a Yoda or Bobba Fett movie.

But if they do go ahead with Obi-Wan, the time, the setting and most of all the story will be crucial. As a character he is full of potential and could carry a movie, but character development and story need to be done right.

The one other thing I would love to see is a live-action "Star Wars" mini-series, maybe on Netflix. Just as Marvel collaborated with Netflix and unleashed those great series, then Lucasfilm could as well!!!

I want to see Alex Freed's novel "Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company" turned into a miniseries. The idea of a "Star Wars" done in the vein of "Band Of Brothers" or "The Pacific" is really appealing, well at least to me. Just the tie-in to "The Empire Strikes Back" would be awesome on its own!!!!!

I agree with you on the Obi Wan film. There's so much more to him as I said between those 3 films Id like most of all to see him young and be trained by Qui Gon.

However with the netflix series I think they should either go with a Kotor style one maybe telling how the Jedi and Sith first came into being. Or a prequel series to TFA showing young Ben Solo. Or an Aftermath series to? Twilight Company would be cool but I wasn't a huge fan of it tbh.

Well the miniseries was just a thought about something I would like to see...but hell yeah I would be down with stuff from the Old Republic...Hey I'd like to get something on the Grey Jedi!!! Or when the Jedi went beserk and basically annihilated the Sith and their home planet...

However given the fact that Disney and Lucasfilm have pretty much nixed the Expanded Universe under the Legends brand, I doubt they'd invest in anything they don't consider as part of their new canon. They did bring Thrawn to life, albeit in "Rebels", so who knows...

An Obi Wan solo movie would work. Yoda, depends on how good the CGI and motion capture, and how young and inexperienced Yoda is, or else there would be too little character development to be had.

But I think Boba Fett is a bad idea. Because we've already seen how he died in Return of the Jedi, and it was a surprisingly pathetic and clumsy death. That really diminishes any worth from any character development he could have if we already know it will inevitably build up to that death.

From a time-is-of-the-essence point of view, an Obi-wan movie would and should be the first to be filmed; you'd want Ewan McGregor before his age really starts to show, and so that you can have the character look as young or old as the story demanded. Anyone can play Boba Fett or Yoda, and you wouldn't have to worry about the age of the actors. Unless the movie makers are dead-set on having either Temuera Morrison or Frank Oz play those leads.

From an even more time-is-of-the-essence point of view, I want to see Felicity Jones as Jyn in a (younger) Jyn movie. Want desperately to see more of that character and actress!

One standalone obi wan film and maybe a trilogy on boba. We have so much of obi wan story etc that delving into boba would be better.

Obi’s should be first and then filter out a boba story that don’t even need to be connected
