Why the poor quality of the color movies?

Most, if not all, of Hitchcock's color movies have been remastered, but the images in the documentary seem to be ancient copies. For example, I just watched "The Birds" on DVD last weekend, and the color was much more lustrous than the images in this documentary.

Having said that, I was happy to see excerpts from the movies on the big screen.

As Wes Anderson said, my copy of the book "Hitchcock/Truffault" is falling apart, too, and I was happy to see a documentary highlighting two of the greatest directors of all time.

The people who own the rights to those restorations probably wanted too much money to use clips from them, so they just took the scenes from older releases.

Consider also that some of the clips were taken from trailers.
