Episode 2.4, possible spoiler

I've just watched this episode here in the US. I may have missed something, but during his testimony in court Sydney says that they believe the father of Abigail's baby was a Vicar (I didn't catch the name). Where did that come from? Here in the States PBS sometimes edits episodes of shows to provide time for their own intro and to name sponsors. I was wondering if that's what happened here. Personally, I have my own candidate for the father of the baby

In Episode 2.1 Sidney worked out that his friend, Sam Milburn, had almost certainly been the Vicar Abigail had written about in her diary. Sam then disappeared from his parish, reinforcing Sidney's suspicions.

True about Sam. Amazing Sydney actually found out.

I won't spoil it but Sam is even worse than we thought originally! ha

As for editing ITV shows on PBS, it's safer than BBC shows that originally run 59 minutes. (Same for Channel 4 shows, they also are filmed at about 43-46 minutes usually).

ITV shows only run 43-46 minutes because it's a heavy load of commercial breaks on ITV.

So those tend to be better for PBS.

BBC shows....I have a never, ever on PBS policy, personally, anyway. When I tried to watch things with 5-7 minutes chopped out (often removing small, entire storylines and characters) to include PBS's total crap inserts, it became a no-go. For me anyway.

Also, anytime you see Rebecca Eaton's name at the end of the credits, as you do with Grantchester, you can bet that the steam train for the show--its content, its themes and its authenticity (or lack thereof)--was driven directly from HER office in the states.

Tail wags dog, when she's in charge. It's no longer a true British drama product--it's a product produced for American sensibilities with a pseudo British pretend veneer for the PBS crowd.

In order to serve her audience, she's had a ruinous effect over the years to truly authentic cultural programing in Britain.

First Sydney learned that Sam directed Abigail in a play, and then he read in her diary that she had a relationship with a Vicar, so he concluded that Sam is the baby's father.

I have PBS in Los Angeles and, so far, nothing has been edited out. I wonder if some local stations are doing their own editing, especially if they're in the midst of fund raising?
