No more Grantchester for me

I just read the PBS synopsis of Grantchester and learned who Sydney ends up with at the end of Season Two. I can't stand Amanda! She is a conniving, dishonest b**ch and I am astonished that Sydney is so attracted to her. I'm finished, sadly, because I really like James Norton and Robson Green.

If he ends up with Amanda, then he would have to quit being a minister. A minister can't marry a divorced woman, not on those days.

I didn't say they married. . . . here is the PBS synopsis:

Sidney strolls along the River Cam. To his surprise, he sees Amanda running towards him—She has left her husband. Sidney and Amanda finally confess their love for one another, and share a passionate kiss. She reveals that her husband Guy is extremely angry, and her father has disowned her. It is clear that they have a rocky path ahead of them.

Sidney is in quite a pickle and it will be interesting to see what happens. I don’t see how Amanda can live with Sidney, but Sidney does do many things that a normal minister wouldn’t do.

I haven't read the books but I still don't see how he could end up with Amanda and still remain a minister.

hmmmmmm I would say critical more than judgemental. I just happen to really like Sidney, more like a crush. . . .ha! I want him all to myself and if I can't have him (just kidding!) then I'd rather he end up with Hildegard, but apparently she doesn't make it. . . .. .

I don't mind Amanda, but I find the Sidney/Amanda pairing contrived. I also feel sorry for Guy because he did marry her in good faith. Turning him into an abusive spouse to justify her leaving him is so hackneyed. Bring back Hildegarde or the jazz singer from season one, or have him and Margaret make up.

Sidney's love life is a bit of a mess at the moment. 

A minister certainly has a more difficult problem choosing a mate than most men, as he has to find someone who is a believer and will help in church activities. I do not see how Amanda could possibly be his wife, so she is definitely out. The only woman who has behaved in a proper Christian manner, so far, is Hildegarde, and Sidney has turned her off by telling the truth about his misbehavior. 

Amanda is too flighty for Sidney and she will only give him heartbreak and if they do end up tying the knot which I don't think they will, she will have some drama induced reason why she can't be with him.
