Finally, someone who thinks the way I do. She should just leave Sidney alone. She thinks Sidney will now give up the church to marry her. Hah!

Agreed๐Ÿ˜Š

reply

Agreed, she is possibly the most selfish woman I've ever seen while always playing the damsel in distress. I think they should write her out. Im on the fence if I watch anymore. If she's as obnoxious in the next episode or two, im done.

Sidney can't marry Amanda and stay an Anglican priest.

Here is an article from the telegraph newspaper to prove my point about Princes Margaret's decision not to marry a divorced man:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/6520837/Princess-Margaret-recently-unearthed-letter-sheds-new-light-on-decision-not-to-marry.html

A statement issued by Princess Margaret on October 31, 1955, said: "Mindful of the Church's teachings that Christian marriage is indissoluble, and conscious of my duty to the Commonwealth, I have resolved to put these considerations before others."

If Princes Margaret couldn't marry a divorced man with the approval of the Church in the 1950's, then Sidney sure couldn't. He would have to quit the church or quit Amanda.

I do not see them getting together at all. She's married and pregnant and this is the 1950's. You've got to feel sorry for her. She's very sad and trapped in a marriage of convenience with no way out. I wish the producers had written out her character once she got married. But its obvious they kept her in for the drama. I don't see this ending well in Season 3.

This is close to how I feel after watching the series, but I am more anti-Amanda.

Most things are a cliche or stereotype for a reason - there is a pattern or statistic which usually leads to the same end/situation/result.

Amanda for all her supposed "better" qualities (on which she is put upon a pedestal for other women to be a comparison by Sidney and make him feel unworthy) is actually quite the superficial, selfish and narcissistic person. Sidney has been through quite a good deal more than her and also has lofty vicar burden (self-imposed).

Amanda never takes responsibility for anything and plays passive victim to her life, except when she is passively-aggressively throwing herself at Sidney, leading him on, and sending mixed signals. It's all fun and games and flirting and soul-bearing to the only person who understands her. At no point does she ask what their relationship means and if it could lead anywhere. Instead she acts the petulant child and finds another man to make Sidney jealous and becomes engaged.

There is a point where they both acknowledge their feelings but Amanda moves straight ahead with the marriage by her own choice. She chose her husband. She chose to make a lifelong commitment to him knowing him only as well as she did.

Can we talk about how she made a lifelong marriage vow under God then runs pregnant with her husband's child to her Vicar, who himself has made a pledge to God and strives to be moral and an example for others. ๎˜

So now that poor bored rich pregnant Amanda (who spends her days doing nothing productive - ummm unlike a vicar's wife would do) has made a complete mess of her life, she runs to Sidney to ruin his life and make a mockery of his calling/profession.

What a coont...๎†

Amen, say it again! I agree with you 110% and couldn't summarize it as well as you. Amanda and Sidney are forbidden fruit to each other and as such they are mistaking romantic fantasy for love and passion. I don't want to watch another season of Amanda practically stalking him. How can he miss her if she won't go away.
