Made for TV

This has made for tv special written all over it.

It sorta seemed like that for the first 10 minutes or so, but then it turned out this movie packed a pretty brutal punch. It might not be quite up to theater quality, and I could nitpick some of the acting from a couple of the people who were not Dean Cain (I mainly got annoyed with the warden's endless close-talking), but this is a pretty decent DTV hardcore action movie. I thought it was much better than most DTV action flicks I've seen, and Dean Cain was pretty good in it. The only thing I wished was that Cain would have shed a bit of weight for the role. He pulls off the fighting quite convincingly (and I think I remember hearing years ago that he has some real-life background in martial arts or something).

What I'd really like to see is for Cain to get trimmed down at this age and get back to something similar to his Lois & Clark physique. It might be shallow, but his weight was the primary thing that kept reminding me this was a relatively low-budget DTV movie. If he got in shape he could definitely pull off some mainstream action movies of the ageing-action-hero variety and I'd be happy to watch.
