eh...................I reckon I'll give it a shot, albeit with lowered expectations. I was really disappointed with it since Season 4, which I struggled to finish. Season 5 I haven't even made it half way through.

Season 3 was the best season. Unfortunately after that, they didn't build on that promise or even resolve the loose ends from S03, & basically revamped the show for the character of Morgan.

I watched it, but after the episode ended, I removed all future recordings from being recorded/saved on my DVR. I just can't stand how bad it's gotten with everything involved with The Walking Dead television universe. I quit.

Yeah I had read a few positive reviews on IMDb, but after watching it.....meh. I'd give it about a 7-8, but it wasn't the knockout I was led to believe it was . Probably half of those 10 star reviews on IMDB were written by AMC sock accounts!!

It was somewhat better than what I remember of S05, which isn't saying much.

Same here. S6E2 had another open with folks being killed by the zombies in the most ludicrous of ways. Reminded me of the hurricane opening with cows and zombies flying everywhere but the trees remained motionless. Honestly, other than the sheer absurdity of this show which I find entertaining, there is no other reason to keep watching it. I’d like to think Daniel has some master plan going to defeat this round of bad guys but I know anything the writers come up with will be disappointing and fall flat on its face. Yet I will continue to watch and continue to wonder why.

I do miss The Talking Dead when it came on afterward. Listening to the actors describe the motivations behind mostly bland characters is priceless.

I thought yesterday's episode 4 was really well done.
FTWD has been uneven, but in general I think better since season 4
when Morgan showed up, and John Dorie, June Bug, etc ...
But it took 4 episodes to get to something that pulled me in and
made me care again for these silly characters. I don't really find
Virginia a very plausible villain, but we'll see.

For the first time in the entirety of this show thus far, I have to agree that last night's episode was very good. For the first time I wasn't wondering what the hell just happened after the episode ended but in fact wanted more. Garrett just nailed it in that episode. His character was more than just the usual "June Bug" drivel the writers saddle him with and finally, after 5 seasons and three episodes, I can say that I connected with a characters plight on an emotional level. Such was the performance of Garrett last night. So much so that I was even more invested in Strand and Janis. However, the Rabbi will always be Dr. Taub for me and there's no going back.

I very much agree with you about Virginia. I see her as an irritant more than a villain. Someone that in the real world would just get fragged and everyone would move on. I don't understand the power she has over EVERYBODY. During the scene where she awards Dorie I fully expected him to just shoot her and be done with it. I wish he would have.

Garret Dillahunt is always excellent in almost everything he does, he impresses me as a very professional and diligent actor who doesn't grandstand or scene steal, or picks roles that allow his talent to shine. I really enjoy his John Dorie character, although perhaps a bit too romantic and naive ... but he has a way to making him believable nevertheless.

The villains in all the Walking Dead series seem flat 2-dimensional comic book characters. They never go that extra mile to make them realistic. However, in the world we live in today if you make the bad guys too charismatic you invert the simple formula of the comic books as a morality tale.

You make a comic book story better by adding detail, not just inverted sensationalism. That's one thing I do no like about the WD series. Meryl was the best villain they had because he had some humanity in him. Then they settled into a poor formula for the same irrational, unbelievable type, Governor, Negan, Alpha.

Exactly ... same with all the absurd and ridiculous villains in WD. They pay not attention to what the average rational person - even in a total apocalypse would think and do. They tried to balance Negan by always having him give that speech about how important people were, and make us think it was more than BS and that he was salvageable.

Same with the end of the Negan dynasty - Rick should have either killed him or put him on trial. But then Rick made a heck of a lot of mistakes.
