I watched the first couple seasons of this...is it worth catching up on?

REALLY liked this show when it first came on...and then it kind of seemed like they were just creating drama for the sake of drama, I don't know...but I lost interest when the unseen episode pile got to the point of ridiculous.

I'm kind of a snob when it comes to what I'm willing to spend time on, so only have a small handful of shows I try to keep up on. Right now its just Snowfall and Mindhunters...does this show come close to those shows in terms of quality entertainment? You know what I mean? Not just some serial that drags on and on, but actual gripping programming?

I think I got to the end of season II...is season III any good?

If you have time continue watching the show. it's get bad each season. Madison and family sure know how to destroy communities like the plague. I just continue to watch cause there's nothing else to watch on a sunday. TLC's 90 day fiance??? i may have to switch over to that.

Cringe worthy sundays with Fear on how dumb the characters behave and think lately

I didn't regret watching season 3. I felt it was pretty good overall, despite some obvious flaws here and there.
After that though, it gets really bad really fast.

It's a constant downhill from the first season - still hasn't stopped being horrible for the wrong reasons and the writers are taking huge dumps on anyone that watches.

No, S3 is basically them driving up and down the same road because they keep flip flopping on what to do while the antagonist, an old fat woman, magically appears wherever they stop even though she's walking most of the time. If it sounds like I'm kidding or exaggerating, I'm really not. S4 gets better and I like the new cast but the writing is very dumb and the characters do not learn from mistakes. S5, is worse, the make up and costume dept are half assing big time although the zombies effects are as good as ever. The bad guys are clever but bad because the plot says so. The good guys are morons.

Well...glad I asked. The better the writing gets on TV shows in general, the harder it seems to waste time on the ones that aren't up to snuff. Especially when the characters behave in an unbelievable way solely for the plot to be able to progress? That seems like an indication of some subpar writing.
Drama for the sake of drama gets a bit boring...and with this show, you've now got two different series that are doing the same thing in parallel, which seems to make it that much more obvious.

Wish they'd have spent the whole first couple of seasons on just the initial process of the word being taken over by zombies. Have the power grid go down at the end of the season, rather than episode two or three. That level of slow =]

Same here, there are enough good tv shows that I don't need to waste time on bad ones, although I admit to having a soft spot for entertaining cheese and always seem to have at least one crappy show in my viewing rotation. But some of these shows feel like the script was written in the back seat of a taxi while on the way to work after a night of binge drinking ... just to get something on paper. Like say ... lets find an oil well, pump the crude into a tank and build a bonfire under it to make gasoline, that'll work right. Don't worry, the bad guys who have been chasing us all season and find us every episode will never ever find us this time so no need for security or defenses. Oh noes! The bad guys found us! Tables turned! Tables turned again! And again! Oh noes, zombies attracted by all the noise! The dirt on my face changes every scene and looks self applied. Can't run in my fashionable skinny jeans!

I used to like this show for the sole reason of visiting the IMDb forums the day after to talk about how ridiculous it was.

We got a lot of run out of that first season with
Monopoly
Auto drip coffee maker during a power outage
Leaving doors open in literally every scene
9 days later
Operation cobalt
and that ultra ridiculous CGI Abigail in the finale through the binoculars.

And many, many others.

I miss those days too. Hell, you could get on IMDb while the show was still on and folks, like me, were picking it apart. Good times. Nowadays folks don’t even bother much it’s gotten that bad.

I’ve said it before, this show had great potential when it started out but after only a few episodes they put the storyline in overdrive and never looked back. At first it was them just doing stupid things that made you shake your head but then it went on to nonsensical plots and poor character development. Now it’s a steady diet of stale TV tropes and anticlimactic story arcs.

After five seasons there is only a single character who’s demise would finally make me rage quit and that would be Daniel. I wish Ofelia was still on the show also.
