Durwood as a Christ figure (spoilers)

Durwood seems to have been set up as an allegory for Christ.
- Upon first encounter, he has a sign that says "God Bless"
- He's very wealthy, but chooses to walk among the poor, as Jesus did
- He gives his wealth to charity
- He takes the blame for the evolution of the business, a sacrifice
- He has an ability to draw people to him
- He has a strong focus on redemption

I could probably go on, but I am starting to think it's pretty obvious what was intended here.
