Far cry 3 or far cry 4

For me,I preferred 3.
Better story. Min is a great character but he isint in it long enough. Vaas, albeit should have been the main bad guy,was a fantastic character and he had a bigger presence in 3 then Min had in 4. 4 story is quite poor in my opinion,I know vast majority play these games for the free roam aspect of the game but at least 3 had a good story to go along with the great gameplay.

Gameplay in both is really enjoyable. Outposts is the standout for me. And 4 added forts to the mix which are tough if you take them on without taken out the respective 'boss' for each fort. The use of bait, attracting a bear, tiger or a mighty honey badger,to attack nearby enemies was a good touch.
There is lots to do in the game,a lot of side missions. The hunting missions are really good too which you will need to do to upgrade your kit. The map is huge and because of the location of the game you get to see a lot of impressive visuals. The Himalayan missions are standout for me.

Overall a very enjoyable game, just don't expect a great story. That's the only downside

Just got 4. At the moment enjoying it more than 3. I actally gave up on 3 and never finished. SeEm to be preferring story here

Far cry 3 is a lot better than 4 story wise.Everything else I'm going with 4.Vaas was incredible so overall I'm going with 3.

Obviously the free roaming element is very good in both and 4 is brilliant at it....but the story I feel let it down. In comparison to fc3 of course

Just got 4, and never even heard of Far Cry. But 4 is so bad ass, I want to play the other 3.

The only difference is the story.

Just finished 4 and I agree that 3 had the greater story and 'wow' factor. 4's missions started off great and the ones for the CIA in the Himalayas were a definite highlight, but then... it all went a bit bland. Not sure if it was the overpowered guns ( even without the God Gun Buzzsaw ) but the last third of the missions were too damn easy- even though I'd played the whole game through on the hardest setting, with tagging and crosshairs turned off I found I only died a couple of times in the later story missions.

Maybe it was just me, but the last third of the game seemed really rushed, with no logic or sense of pace. Bit of a let down, story wise.

I never beat 3 and was recently forced to start over when my PS3 died and we were unable to transfer the data. I did get pretty far though.

So far, I'd say 3 is better, and 3 definitely had a disappointing storyline when they decided to kill Vaas (the posterboy) in such a lame manner. The gameplay is simply better though. The gameplay in this game seems almost muted. The sound and impact of the shooting is subdued. Both the sound and actual play feel toned down/quiet.

Far Cry 3 by a landslide. It had a better storyline, the characters were better, the villains were awesome and I liked the guns better.

In 3, you are kidnapped by psychotic slave traders, witness your brother murdered right in front of you, have to rescue your baby brother and save your friends all while becoming a badass warrior, getting revenge and liberating an island.

In 4, you get involved in a war because you want to... bury your mom's ashes? And Pagan is a cheesy and cartoony villain who looks like a reject from Saint's Row. Hes nowhere near as hate-worthy as Vaas, Hoyt and Buck the rapist. Plus there are no real boss fights.

Plus Brody is a better protagonist than Ajay.

The only thing 4 has going for it is slightly better graphics and the ability to roleplay more with giving you decisions on the storyline.

I think that the scenario, dialogue, and the voice acting were better in both, Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3. All of the games have from the series have unrealistic parts, but the select characters from 2 and 3 were way more natural and believable.

Far Cry 4 to me almost seems like comedy when I hear random dialogue. I do like the main villain a lot because he reminds me a lot of Batman's Joker. But it was the case with Far Cry 3 villain 2.

It is very fun to play no matter what. It's just surprising how the writing of dialogue and voices can be very good and very bad in the same game.

I have to say Blood Dragon. It was the most fun. Storywise, 3 could have been better. If it had ended halfway through. I was glad for the second island and more content. But the story died with island 1. At least 4 had the decency to have a story I didn't care for from the beginning, allowing me to forget about it and focus on the gameplay.

The story in both games is quite annoying. FC4 a little less so, because your choices result in a few different missions so there's an incentive to replay. But so far I haven't found a way to skip the videos, altho thankfully the awful QuickTime events are much reduced compared to FC3.

The only reason I persevered with the sometimes terrible story missions in FC3 was to finish the game. I don't see myself ever doing that again, once is enough for all the unskippable videos and dumb QuickTime events. Get a mod to unlock the southern island and weapons, and FC3 is a great game.

FC4's interface is much improved, to the degree it's nearly good. FC3's was an obviously botched port direct from a console version of the game, which got zero quality control attention--very very bad.

FC4 is a more serious game than FC3. FC3 was way over the top, and great fun for that, with Vaas and a number of other memorable lunatics. FC4 doesn't have that, there are good characters and they all behave mostly like adults in a bad situation. I think the cartoon lunatics are probably better suited to a shooter game, which is already totally unrealistic to begin with.

So FC3 has better characters, in everything else FC4 is superior. Not so much FC3 done right, just a natural evolution in the series. You might want to play FC4 one level more difficult than FC3 though, I found it easier in general.

Both games are 10/10 in my book on their release days--FC3 flaws are made up for by plenty of superb attributes, eg the animal life and general environment.
