shareIt'll propably be nominated. Brazil has been really snubbed these past years so this better be nominated.
shareI hope so, my friend. It's about time for Brazilian cinema to get more Oscar attention and recognition. Not to mention this is a feel good movie, which the members of the Academy tends to prefer. So let's start the "For your consideration" campaign.
shareI always prefer having a Brazilian movie awarded at Cannes or Venice. Face it....Regina Case' would be only another "latino " chica, in the American circus of freaks. In the words of Fernanda Montenegro, when she was invited to work in Hollywood, "I don't want to play impoverished old indian women on film, for the American pleasure".
shareI agree with you...
shareThis film is really amazing!
It is deserving - at least - of three nominations: Best Foreign Film, Best Actress - Regina Casé and Best Director - Anna Muylaert.
But if I would vote, I could put those three plus Best Supporting Actress - Camila Márdila and Best Film.
Unfortunately, it did not make the 9 top finalist to be considered for a nomination. It got robbed if you asked me! It was among the favorites on many lists! I wish they consider the movie for other categories: cinematography, screenplay, acting... It happend with Y tu Mamá También and City of God a while back...
shareThis movie is good but it is definitely not as good as Y tu Mamá También and City of God.
Think of it: while cute and endearing, it keeps making the same point for two hours.
Wasn't the film released in 2014? If so how could it be a contender in the 2016 Oscars?
