*Sigh* Another Copy! Does Bollywood have no original story?!

This film is very much 'based on' (read: copied in Indian context and settings) Lake Eden, a 2008 film.

Une autre copie éhontée!

No movie industry has any original story left these days ..

At First , EDEN lake is not only the movie of this kind, there are 100+ movies with similar "vacation turns into tragedy when some cruel people come into action" plots , in that way you have say that every one of them is copy cat of the first released movie.
Whenever an indian trailer realeases, you can be sure that some idiots will try to be cleaver by saying it's a copycat :
revenge drama - copy of kill dil, i spit on your grave, memento
heist film - ocean's 11, now you see me
action film - all marvel's films and most of nolan's films
Come on, grow up ! American cinema hasn't created every kind of scenario on earth. If Eden lake had been an indian film you would have said that it's a copy of I spit on your grave, but because it's american you're praising it. Pathetic !

When they make movies like kick and happy new year you guys abuse them and want them to make movies like this, and when they finally make movies like this you guys again abuse them and claim that its a little copy of Hollywood movie ... I don't know when Indian audience will learn to appreciate
PEACE OUT!!!!

reply

Sorry, but I do not see where I 'praised' American movies in my post! Could you please quote the line where I said this? It's your interpretation.
As far as praising American (read non-Indian) movies : Yes, because the original ones deserve to be credited.
Let me also state: Not praising movies just because it's non-Indian...extremely pathetic!

The movies you mentioned... They are copies as well. Research and yes definitely watch more 'American' movies that are originals. Our directors do...religiously. Most of Indian director's work are proof. Period.

Male ego? Haa haa haa haa. You bet its my non-existent male ego that made me say what I did and not the obvious plot holes? Tell me - in all practicality, you being a man and hence physically stronger, would you dare step into a village in Hariyana and kill some natives, then leave the place like nothing happened? If you have ever been to a place even close to NCR you will know the answer.
I am sure it is also a non plot-hole that someone drives a car in the narrow lanes of a village and kill a few guys and no one even bothers to come out? If your argent is 'Ram leela' then where on earth do ALL the residents go away in its pretext? Also, she took quite a few minutes to kill multiple people and no one raises an alarm even though the distance to where all the villagers are is at a stone-throw?
Apart from killing, she walks out of the place without anyone interrupting her is utter non-sense. I could go on and on but let me tell you that I would have said the same thing even if it was the man doing all the revenge killing and not the lady.

The story was good enough to be watched. That is what should matter. The portrayal of realism was brilliant. I am pretty sure that was not copied from Lake Eden.

reply

Have you actually seen Eden Lake or are you just believing rumors etc?

Eden Lake involves a couple in the woods who are hunted down by a group of youths.

reply

I should not even begin to answer that...but YES. I saw it back in 2008.

reply

The film that blatantly copied of Eden Lake also released this year and it was called Preservation!

As others have already said there are a ton of movies featuring a trip gone wrong, many of which came out before Eden Lake.

Just because a film belongs to a familiar/oversaturated genre doesn't mean that it's automatically run-of-the-mill or bad.

reply

There are a million movies with the same premise. Eden lake is quite different, irrespective of context and settings. Regardless, it is quite heartening to see that Indian directors are now daring to try something different than run-of-the-mill love stories with people singing and running around trees.

reply

Buddy, even this is run-of-the-mill. Maybe not so much in India, but definitely a overly-used topic in world cinema.

reply

It does feel a lot like Eden Lake copy.

What is new is that male is one of the most stupid characters in movie history. Yes, why wouldnt i go and play hero instead of calling police. Wait, i can leave phone and women in car in the middle of the woods and go with a little firecracker to search for a group of people. Yes, while i am running away and some dumb kid comes his way i should stop and lose my mind. Etc.

Easily forgoten in 2 minutes.

You say based on , i don't think so , i loved eden lake ,gave me chills that the bad ppl in it were actually kids ..but nh10 is diff thn this and completely fit in its indian setting (realistic), sure it belongs to tht scenario 'road trip gone wrong kinds' , but their are thousands of films like that , copied or based on eden lake will be wrong according to my point of view .

reply

so you mean to say those movies which were the desi remakes of hollywood movies are also original not copied.then go check your mind.there are lots of hindi movies which are not totally but so what lifted from hollywood.thats why most claim hindi movies to be copied from hollywood or other countries movies.

For those who think this movie is 'practical' and 'possible':

I have watched both the movies, and I think they are not similar at all. You can say that the somewhat premise or Genre is similar but that can be found in 100 other movies also so just chill and enjoy it.

At least its daring and it's better that 100 other pathetic movies released every year on the name of entertainment.

Love is like a game of Chess, One wrong move and you are........ married!!

reply

Tell me about it...I started watching it and about 30 minutes into the movie i realized it was Eden Lake...

you can't even say it is inspired by Eden Lake there are way too many similarities to use the word "inspired"

For all those who say it isn't please watch Eden Lake again...it does not have to be a shot by shot copy of Eden Lake to be called a rip off
