Mantosh, the brother

I wondered how accurate the movie is about the brother, Mantosh. And if it is accurate, his issues are put out for the whole world to see. On his FaceBook page someone asked how we was doing in Dec, and he replied:

Hi Chris yes things are just ok I am shamed to go back to rehab having a time out since the movie come made me so sad. Unhappy I don't like the movie I am a drugy in the movie. And I don't like Saroo to do that.

I would love to hear his story as well. I also felt bad that his dirty laundry was aired out in this film and wondered how accurate the portrayal was.

oh, that is so sad. i was wondering how he felt about their very spare and largely negative portrayal of him in the film.

mm I went on the facebook and it looks like it's really him. I wonder why the English appears to be broken considering he grew up in Australia though...(not trying to judge)

If that's really him That's a pretty crappy thing to do in my opinion. Like there was no need to depict the brother in a negative light in the movie. I'm all for accuracy but the brother wasn't even an important character. I know its based on a book though and I guess he's depicted the same way.

The brother was there true to real life and for contrast. Without him, there's not much for Kidman and the others to do in the movie. It also shows two sides of love - loving someone who's easy and someone who isn't. As far as parenting goes. It's beautiful. And I don't think they painted him in a negative light. Just as a very troubled young man.

I thought perhaps he had some level of autism, but read it was supposed to be adjustment issues. I assume this was based on the book & interviews with Saroo. I looked at Trivia... It is very interesting. Nicole met the Mom... Also, it tells us how long & what Dev had to do to prepare for the film & that Rooney's character is a combination of a collection of Saroo's girlfriends during that period, not a single, particular or long term one.
