Of course I hoped the entire family to reunite. However, when we found out Guddu had passed away I was devastated for Saroo but partly relieved when it transpired he had died the same night Saroo went missing; he wouldn't have to live with the decades of guilt and anguish or have to tell his mother he had lost him, especially after the scene where the mother asked why he hadn't looked after Saroo and didn't he love him after his watermelon injury.
shareYou should re-watch the ending. Im assuming that also means you missed the scene of grown Saroo imagining he was playing with his brother again on the tracks? It was so heartbreaking but beautiful!

Check out the movie, The Impossible.. also about separated family.. different setting but nice reunion.
shareI must admit here I felt exactly the same. Sorry he died, but at least not having to witness the awful scene of admitting to his mother having lost his darling little brother! All the suspense building up to what happened to Guddu, and the meaning of the title, was excellently done and the film earned all its accolades.
