I Turned It Off At This Point

When Dr. Emma declares she is freeing all the monsters to restore balance to the planet!

No one with an ounce of self-respect and a brain would have kept watching beyond that point.

And 2 guys actually got paid for writing this?! This motive is actually dumber than “And then I woke up. It had all been a dream.”

No wonder the kid was “worried” about her mom. Mom was nuts, Greta Thurberg-level nuts.

What twaddle.

Up to that point, I’d been thoroughly bored.

YOU WATCHED TOO MUCH.

reply

You don't think there are loony tunes out there who would think/act this way? Greta & her delusional following are Exhibit A.

reply

exactly, just look at the Q anon lunatics in the Trump insurrection

reply

Exactly, just look at the Demonic-rat insurrection that happened in the early morning hours of Nov 4th when polling locations in Dem-controlled cities of key battle states where Trump had a commanding lead mysteriously stopped counting in the wee hours of the night and sent people home (something that's never happened before), and then 2-3 hours later -- VOILA -- hundreds of thousands of Biden votes miraculously manifest and give him the win.

Her decision making was highly suspect at best. The only saving grace is they were rushing the setup to get to the action. I have given it a couple stabs but I am struggling to get through this...

reply

Well, you missed the big monster fight, which is the whole point of watching a Godzilla film!

You'd have been better off to tune in halfway or 2/3 of the way through, because IMHO this film's biggest mistake is keeping the monsters hibernating far too long. I mean, it's a Godzilla movie, the plot and character motivations are filler between monster scenes, and should have been treated as such. Who cares what the human assholes are doing, we want to see the monsters!

reply

You do realize you were watching a monster movie, right? Giant creatures who breathe atomic fire, who have lava for blood, and who regrow one of their 3 heads -- but that is your deal-breaker?

Logic is left at the door with a film like this. Try keeping context next time.

Many of the Japanese Godzillas have some sort of message (don't play around with nuclear weapons, don't play around with genetics, don't pollute), but in the end are about the monster fights. Kind of like this one. Even the original movie is an allegory about the atom bomb.

reply

At least the movie made her a villain of sorts for believing this. Usually such characters are the good guys, no matter how loony their actual reasoning is.
