The hero lost

What I like about this version of Kong is that the hero got killed, which obviously was Samuel Jackson. In all the other Kong movies, the hero survived. That was a nice touch. Samuel Jacksons character came close to killing the ape, but came up short. Its nice to see movies nowadays aren't predictable as the past

King Kong is the hero, not any of those insignificant little humans.

Samuel L. Jackson was a villain for doing something suicidal that got his men killed. He had no chance against Kong.

reply

How was Samuel Jackson the villain? It was Kong who destroyed the helicopter convoy in the beginning.

reply

Because instead of making sure he and his remaining men got safely away from Kong, he went after Kong thus resulting in he and most of his men getting killed. It was a bad move. Also wild animals aren't like people so you can't blame them for destroying invaders to their homes.

Jackson appears a lot like captain Ahab in the movie. He doesn't seem like a hero to me at all.

reply

Not only was Kong just an animal defending his home from invaders, but he was trying to prevent the invaders from awakening the true monsters of the island. You could make the case he was trying to save the humans from themselves.

But even after being told of Kong's true intentions, SLJ pressed his attack against Kong, rather than just trying to escape the island. Though we under stand why he feels this way, based on his feelings on the end of the Vietnam war, he chose a fool hearted attack that resulted in more of his men dying, and his own death.

He's either a villain or foolish. Or both.

reply

Hehehe, that's funny.
