Good but also disaapointing?

Anyone else feel the same? This film could've been so much better.

I think that's like the general consensus for this pretty much. The scenes with Kong are good but then scenes with most of the characters were pretty lame.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/g8hwq5Xx-_E

I for one didn't expect anything more, to be honest. I think the movie delivers for the most part.

Not at all disappointing. This was a refreshing "other" look at Kong. No one was trying to capture him. Well, yes, Sam Jackson, who is well beyond the point of either needing to retire or play another fucking character was, against all good sense, trying to kill the one entity that's keeping the humans on Skull Island alive. This was, clearly, not King Kong. This took Kong in another direction. I consider it an interesting footnote in the Kong oeuvre. Kong did not fall for the human woman, though he did care for her. The island natives did not capture the intruders. There was only one disgusting bug, so take note, Peter Jackson, because your King Kong was both boring and disgusting. Kong was a good--lower-end good, but still good--PG13 action movie with quite nice FX and a script that is accessible to someone who scored around 600 on the SAT exam. It was better than what I'd expected.

Sam Jackson really needs to go away. His character in this film was like his Octopus character from The Spirit in a military uniform. He must give studio executives great head.

I’m with you two. Agree wholeheartedly, nothing disappointing at all with this movie. As a matter of fact it succeeds tremendously in the fact that it’s a popcorn flick & doesn’t take itself more seriously than that. This was a fun & entertaining movie from start to finish & no the other characters weren’t lame.

Thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish, must have watched this on cable over ten times already. Good movie that delivers the goods in just being a good old fashioned monster flick. My only gripe is that Kong didn’t get to fight more/different monsters like the spider but other than this you just put this on & enjoy. Makes me wonder what the OP was looking for.

Yeah ... I was not impressed with this. It was streaming for free so I watched it. It was not as good as the last two King Kong movies, the older one being the Jeff Bridges version. The whole mission was screwy and made no sense, especially like everything they did. I really do not like movies like this.

*SPOILER ALERT*
I wasn't either; didn't even reach for the popcorn or pretzels with this one. I got to a point where all that kept me interested was seeing if the WW2 vet would get reunited with his family, which did happen but also seemed flat, anticlimactic. Someone else on here referred to this as a "CGI fest, " which I agree with. SL J looked absolutely stupid in the scenes where he was supposedly staring down Kong.

Hey, the fact that it's not completely disappointing makes it the best Kong movie of recent decades!

So yeah, it was a modern nonsensical CGI-laden action film, but better than the ones Michael Bay makes, and certainly better than the seventies Jessica Lange or the 00's Naomi Watts "King Kong". "Skull Island" was kind of a pleasant surprise who's seen either of those two dreadful movies, so I like it, and I'm not going to object to their obvious plans to make a Kong Franchise.

no I thought it was just very good

It's a good film but doesn't have that special something-something to make it truly great.
