Do we need the same movie every decade?

We had Kong in 2005. I thought it was great (though a bit too long). Why do we need another?

Why do we need another XXX?

Why more Hogwarts?

Why more Jason Stratham films?

Why more Saw films?

Why another Pirates film?

Why more remakes?

Why so many sequels for 2016 and 2017?!?

COME UP WITH SOME DAMN NEW IDEAS! For gods sake!

And if you can't, hire me as a writer. I have a treasure trove of scripts waiting to be unleashed.

Has that treasure trove of scripts found its way to an agent yet? Or, more importantly, are you currently trying to find an agent? Because if you're not, you've kinda answered your own question.

Hollywood only hires hollywood. Its the reason the industry is so stagnent. There's no real competition to give Hollywood a run for its money, so complacency hits in.

Sequels are more marketable and far less risky than a new franchise. Its creatively much easier to dive into an established well of tropes. That's why Sci-Fi has been dead in Hollywood for decades (minus the occasional Nolan escapade).

I understand it.

I just lament that reality...

So you're not trying at the moment? Got it.

All of this for an opportunity to plug your bogus scripts. Gross. Why don't you count the ratio of original concept-to-remake releases every year before you post stuff like this. You couldn't be more off if your life depended on it.

This isn't a remake. Nor was Peter Jackson's remake good enough to be the KING KONG to end all KING KONG films. This is a new story, helping introduce Kong into the new Monsters Cinematic Universe with GODZILLA (2014). The two will eventually meet in GODZILLA VS KONG (2020).

Are you serious? There are more original films being made today than ever before

I agree. At least the 2005 Kong was a modern take, a version that could utilize tech and advanced cgi when compared to the old versions. This one isn't going to be that much of a leap forward

If this was another retelling, those statements would hold more truth, but in this one, you are taking the character and putting him in a total different universe. There is no "Beauty and the Beast" plot line. With his size, it is doubtful, the fire power these soldiers have will be enough to take him down, and heck, this could be the most vicious Kong we've seen since 1933. I would rather see that, than have the filmmakers play the over-sympathy card again!

And there it is, there's the self promotion at the bottom of the OP!

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
