Thought it was going to be a horror movie

I rented this expecting a slasher type movie. I didnt research it very thoroughly before renting it because I didn't want to spoil anything, but the few things I looked at gave a very strong slasher movie vibe.

Just look at the picture linked below. The only type of movie that cover could work for is a college slasher movie where someone comes back to punish a sorority for harming others. Who even is that under the hood?

This ended up being some kind of thriller-drama type of movie and nothing like I expected. I actually kind of liked it, but I spent the first 2/3 or the movie waiting for the villain to show up and start taking them out.

I think that's what the distributors wanted people to believe to increase the chances of rentals at places like Redbox. That's exactly why I rented it late last night. Thankfully the deceptive advertising paid off, because this ended up being perfectly watchable, if unremarkable. I thought the cast was pretty solid.

I'm with you (both) - re its having been falsely advertised, at least via its cover and its classification by Redbox, and its being a not-bad-at-all movie. I wasn't disappointed by it, as I wasn't looking for a slasher movie, per se.

The cover for this looks like an excellent match for Sorority Row - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1232783/. This is actually a great fit for your " . . . someone comes back to punish a sorority for harming others" description, mjdaudish! It's a slasher/mystery, but with a healthy dose of humor - which is always welcomed by me. (Leah Pipes is a real hoot as Jessica!)
