Utterly idiotic scene ruined the movie (spoilers)

I was enjoying this movie until the dumb scene where Ava does the ritual to get her friend possessed.

Such a stupid, stupid, stupid scene, turning the main character into a complete moron.

"I got possessed and nearly killed a bunch of people, so I'm just going to listen to my airhead friend and get her possessed again and sacrifice a frog while I'm at it."

Completely destroyed any sympathy I had for this character. Talk about stupid characters. Everytime I think I've seen the stupidest character in a movie, a new movie comes along to take stupidity to another level.

Funny, that was my favorite part of the movie... her friend WANTING to be possessed again and her helping her out.
Different strokes I guess...

Loved that scene. I thought it was fun watching people dealing with demon posession as it was something positive for a change. Ava's friend definitely enjoyed it.

If you were taking the movie seriously before that scene you might have been missing a few things.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

The whole thing is done like a metaphor for drug addiction - that scene would be akin to someone falling back into helping her friend get drugs etc. Doesn't seem that out of keeping. More importantly, it's amusing.
